After signing for the promotion in October, Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez will make their debuts for One Championship on March 31.

It was revealed on Wednesday by the promotion that Johnson and Alvarez would make their debuts on One Championship’s first ever card in Japan. The event will take place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan arena in Tokyo.

Johnson (27-3-1) will face Yuya Wakamatsu in a flyweight bout for his first fight in the promotion. “Mighty Mouse” won thirteen straight fights before his most recent loss to Henry Cejudo at UFC 227, breaking the record for the most consecutive title defenses in UFC history during that impressive run. His opponent Wakamatsu (10-3) made his ONE debut in September when he lost a unanimous decision to Danny Kingad.

Alvarez (29-6, 1NC) will fight Russian contender Timofey Nastyukhin in his debut, the contest will take place at lightweight. Thr 34-year-old enjoyed success both for the UFC and Bellator prior to signing for One, becoming the lightweight champion under both promotions. Nastyukhin is a One Championship veteran who most recently lost his last fight by first round KO.

Three title fights will also take place on the card, as atomweight champion Angela Lee will be moving up a weight class to fight strawweight champion Xiong Jing Nan. Current middleweight king Aung La Nsang and lightweight champion Eduard Folayang will also attempt to defend their belts on the night.
