Earlier this month, UFC president Dana White confirmed that former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz would return to the Octagon against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 235 in March.
According to Diaz, however, who hasn’t fought since his decision loss to Anderson Silva in 2015 (later overturned to a No Contest after Silva tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs), the MMA veteran hasn’t accepted the fight and feels he’s being lowballed by the UFC.
”I think it’s rude of the UFC to try and lowball me and expect me to negotiate a deal while I’m training for a fight,” Diaz said in a text mesage earlier this week. “It’s not gonna go down like that. If anybody wants to fight me they know where to find me. I’m not a hard guy to find. Come get some.”
Masvidal soon got light of Diaz comments, but the former street fighter isn’t bothered.
‘Gamebred’ issued a response on Twitter, claiming that he just wants to fight and get paid. The 15-year MMA veteran also called out Neil Magny, who was recently knocked out by Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Fight Night 140.
Everybody waiting on me to respond. I’m just waiting on a fight I need to get paid @NeilMagny where you at? #easymoney

Masvidal last fought in 2017 against Stephen Thompson, losing a unanimous decision on the UFC 217 main card.
UFC 235, which was expected to feature a welterweight bout between Diaz and Masvidal, takes place next year, March 2 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
