Vasyl Lomachenko def. Jose Pedraza, UD (119-107, 117-109, 117-109)

In a world title unification fight headlining on ESPN, it was pound for pound king Vasyl Lomachenko who emerged victorious, defeating Jose Pedraza by unanimous decision. With that win, Lomachenko unifies the WBA and WBO titles at Lightweight, while extending his professional record to 12-1. Pedraza falls to 25-2.Though Lomachenko took the win by a wide margin on all cards, it wasn’t a complete blow-out. Through much of the fight, Pedraza was close, consistently staying right with Lomachenko. But round after round, it was Loma able to land at least a few big punches to claim the round.

In round 11, he showed just what he was made of. He stunned Pedraza, then came on very strong, throwing an insane onslaught of punches from every angle. Pedraza valiantly held on but eventually was dropped. He made it back up, but was dropped again. With seconds left in the round, he got up again, surviving to the 12th round and, ultimately, the final bell. This was Lomachenko’s first decision win since his 4th pro fight four years ago.

Post-fight, Lomachenko called for a fight with Mikey Garcia as he looks to unify the gold at 130 pounds.
