After recently teasing for a fight with former two-weight champion Conor McGregor, Donald Cerrone will have to wait for a fight with the Irishman, as ‘Cowboy’ is slated to fight rising contender Alexander Hernandez at UFC Brooklyn.

MMAjunkie first reported the news. The UFC is yet to make an official announcement. Cerrone and Hernandez will fight in the featured bout of the ESPN prelims that will be broadcasted nationally.

Cerrone (34-11) is coming off of a Performance of the Night win against Mike Perry, submitting him in the first round at UFC Denver last month. After the win, Cerrone said he will drop back down to 155-pounds for his next fight, in the hope of making another run at the lightweight title.

Hernandez (10-1) has been one of the breakout stars of 2018 in the UFC. Filling in short notice to make his debut against Beneil Dariush in March, “The Great” went on to knock out Dariush in just 42-seconds. The 26-year-old hasn’t fought since picking up a unanimous decision win against Olivier Aubin-Mercier in July.

UFC on ESPN+ 1 takes place on January 19th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. A UFC flyweight title fight between current champion Henry Cejudo and bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw will headline the event, with the main card streaming on the ESPN+ subscription service.
