It’s matrix time! The current WBA lightweight king Vasyl Lomachenko returns to action this Saturday at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden with his sights set on snagging up the WBO 135-pound strap from recently crowned champ Jose Pedraza.

As expected, Lomachenko is the heavy betting favorite here with a gargantuan moneyline of -3500. As for Pedraza, he can be found with a stout underdog tag of +1200. Lomachenko didn’t start out as such massive favorite, opening up with a moneyline of -1050. Pedraza started out his betting life for this bout with a much smaller underdog mark of +550. Needless to say, there’s hasn’t been a ton of action on the side of Pedraza.

The over/under for this title unification bout has been set at 9.5 rounds. The ‘under’ sports the favored line here, clocking in at -172, with the ‘over’ sitting at +157.

The oddsmakers definitely do not see this one going the distance. ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ sits with a strong favored line of -290, with ‘Fight goes to decision’ in the underdog role at +245. Not only do the bookies think it’s going to end early, they also have Lomachenko finishing Pedraza. ‘Lomachenko wins by TKO/KO or DQ’ can be had for around -250. ‘Pedraza wins by TKO/KO or DQ’ is found at about +2000.

Just for the record, out of his eleven wins, Lomachenko has finished nine of them, giving himself a 75% KO rate. By comparison, Pedraza has finished 12 of his 25 victories, bringing in a much smaller KO rate of 46%. Both champs have one loss on their respective records. In his second professional boxing bout, Lomachenko lost a sticky split decision to Orlando Salido back in March of 2014. Pedraza’s lone loss came at the hands of a Gervonta Davis TKO back in January of 2017.
