KSW 46 is over, and some of the most high-level matchups from top to bottom were seen on the card that ended with another big matchup. Tomasz Narkun (now 16-2) defeated Mamed Khalidov for the second consecutive time, this time by unanimous decision.

Narkun wanted to settle any doubts that his previous win over Khalidov was a fluke, and was able to put on the better performance of the two. Narkun was able to land leg kicks at range and good punches inside, eventually landing a few takedowns later on.

Khalidov had his moments, such as this reversal that led to him getting out of bottom side control to turn the tide.

But Narkun outstruck Khalidov and managed to take less damage overall, controlling on the ground for longer periods of time. Even at the end, he kept the pressure going.

The somewhat shocking part of it all was after the fight, where Khalidov took off his gloves as he knelt in the middle of the cage. He announced his retirement, capping off a career that began in 2004.

The middleweight legend retires with a record of 34-6 and two draws. His record includes wins over Tor Troeng, Igor Pokrajac, Jorge Santiago, Matt Lindland, Jesse Taylor, Kendall Grove, Ryuta Sakurai, Maiquel Falcão, Michal Materla and Luke Barnatt. Khalidov had gone on a remarkable 20-fight win streak, which was snapped by Narkun earlier this year via triangle choke. The 38 was a force in European MMA, and was a massive asset for KSW’s growth.

The co-main event saw a dual champ emerge, as Mateusz Gamrot defeated Kleber Koike Erbst by decision. Erbst seemed to tire as the fight went on, while Gamrot didn’t let up on the pressure and battered Erbst with strikes while avoiding submission attempts the rest of the way.

Salahdine Parnasse won a decision at featherweight against the very game Marcin Wrzosek, remaining undefeated and improving to 12-0. If you’ve never seen Parnasse fight before, yes – he is a lot of fun.

Brazilian Daniel Torres threatened a few guillotine chokes, but wasn’t able to seal the deal as Roman Szymański used control and ground strikes to win a unanimous decision.

Welterweight champion Roberto Soldić landed a spectacular knockout in the final seconds of the first round against Vinicius Bohrer. It was another amazing addition to his highlight reel, right up there with his finish of former champion Dricus Du Plessis just months ago.

Antun Račić used his wrestling and control to earn a decision win over Sebastian Przybysz, and Artur Sowiński improved to 19-10 with a decision win at lightweight over Kamil Szymuszowski.

Krystian Kazubowski opened the card with a forarm/wrist punch variant, shutting off Michal Michalski’s lights with authority in round 1. No such thing as a lucky punch if you intend for it to land.

Finally, a major announcement was made at the end, with KSW revealing that former World’s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski will fight competitive weightlifter Szymon Kolecki at KSW 47 in March. Looks like the Polish crowds love them some dudes with muscles.
