Ferguson rips Khabib for wanting Mayweather fight: ‘You couldn’t box your way out of a paper bag’

After his win over Conor McGregor at UFC 229, Khabib Nurmagomedov is looking at new opportunities. Now that he’s a much bigger name for defeating the company superstar and the brawl that ensued right after, “The Eagle” floated the possibility of a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Floyd Jr. did respond in usual fashion, but all of it was shut down by UFC president Dana White not long after. Fighters like Tony Ferguson, meanwhile, decided to throw some shade at the undefeated Dagestani.

There have been four failed attempts to book a fight between Khabib and Ferguson, and both men have their fair share of blames for the fallouts. The most recent one was for UFC 223 in April, which should have pushed through if not for “El Cucuy’s” freak accident that led to a torn knee ligament.

But after their victories at UFC 229, it’s only logical to try for a fifth time to make a fight happen. Ferguson, however, will have to sit tight and wait until December 10th, when the Nevada Athletic Commission is expected to come up with a decision on possible sanctions for Khabib for his involvement in the post-fight brawl.
