Rachael Ostovich is currently scheduled to face off against Paige VanZant in what should be the highest profile match up in her UFC career, but it looks like the bout could be in jeopardy.
According to a report from TMZ on Sunday evening, Ostovich was allegedly “attacked” in her native of Hawaii by “someone close to her.” The site’s sources state that the 27-year-old flyweight is currently hospitalized for major injuries, including what is “believed” to be a broken orbital bone.
As of this writing, the UFC and her camp have yet to issue a statement on the reported incident, and the January 19 bout on the UFC’s debut on ESPN+ has yet to be called off officially.
Ostovich is currently 1-1 in the UFC, and 4-4 overall during her relatively young MMA career. She has a submission win over Karine Gevorgyan during her UFC debut in December of 2017, and suffered a rear naked choke loss to Montana De La Rosa on her last bout in July.
Update: In a new report from TMZ, Honolulu police have informed the outlet that they have opened a ‘felony domestic violence investigation’ in relation to Ostovich’s injuries. However, no arrests have been made at this time.
