Join us today on Bloody Elbow for live results, discussion, round scoring and play-by-play as UFC Fight Night: Volkan vs. Smith takes place in Moncton, NB.

The headliner comes in the light heavyweight division, where Volkan Oezdemir will look to stay in the title mix when he takes on rising Anthony Smith.

Today’s event will coincide with regular Fight Night times. Live results and play-by-play will commence with the Fight Pass broadcast at 6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT for three fights. The event will then flip over to FS2 for four more prelims starting at 8:00pm ET, and then to FS1 for the full main card which goes down at 10:00pm ET. The full lineup and schedule follows.

Volkan Oezdemir vs. Anthony Smith

Round 1 – Oezdemir takes the center. Outside leg kick. Smith immediately shoots. Wow, didn’t see that coming. Oezdemir stays up though, and they battle in close on the cage. They trade knees. Smith pushes him away. Inside leg kick from Smith. Oezdemir wades in with punches. Smith throws back, then covers up as Oezdemir punches his arms. Straight left from Volkan on the reset. Nice left hook too. Another one. Inside leg kick from Smith. Oezdemir clips him with a right. Smith lands back and Volkan taunts him a bit. Smith circles out of a flurry. Oezdemir with a right over the top. Smith with his own right hook that connects. Low blow from Smith. Cornuts cam confirms. They restart in about a minute. Oezdemir with an immediate head kick that connects. Smith throws one that doesn’t. Smith with an elbow over the top. Oezdemir has a bloody nose. He flurries on Smith against the cage a bit. 10-9 Oezdemir.

Round 2 – Smith take a little longer in his corner than usual. No harm, no foul. Oezdemir comes out with leg and body kicks. Smith with a right. Two mre inside kicks from Oezdemir. Smith charges forward with a flurry of punches. He’s countering Oezdemir’s leg kicks with right hooks. Oezdemir gets a takedown. Smith looks for a leg lock, but gives up his back in the process. Oezdemir is landing punches from behind with Smith sitting in a turtle position.They stay there for a while, with Oezdemir just trying to trap an arm. Blood is pouring out of Oezdemir’s nose, all over Smith. He’s trying to sink hooks but can’t. So he’s just going back to punching now and again. Smith actively avoided getting up, which was a bit strange. 10-9 Oezdemir.

Round 3 – Smith with a body kick. Oezdemir with a leg kick. Smith with a jab. They both miss with lunging punches and whiz past each other. Smith with a nice 1-2. Hard overhand right from Smith, and another. He might be stunned, but he throws his own back. They’re getting at it now. Smith lands two punches and a knee. He chops Oezdemir down with a leg kick Oezdemir pops up and cracks Smith with an elbow! They’re exchanging a bunch, I can barely keep up. But it might catch up to them soon. Smith ducks a shot and lands a right hook. He level changes and gets a nice takedown. Straight to the back, with hooks. A full 90 seconds to go. He’s looking for the choke, and Oezdemir isn’t defending very well. So much blood. Smith is squeezing. Oezdemir finally got a look of panic on his face and had to fight it. Smith readjusted and Oezdemir taps! That was awesome!

Michael Johnson vs. Artem Lobov

Round 1 – Lobov is just coming forward, as usual. He lands a body kick and some light low kicks. He’s even dropping his hands. Johnson is trying to establish range, working a lead left hook with a jab. Johnson clips him wit ha lead right. And again. Body shot. Lobov lands a glancing right. Body kick and a left cross from Johnson. Back to the body. Lobov trying to open up the right body kick by tapping the left on Johnson’s front leg. Inside leg kick from Johnson. Combo from The Menace and the last shot, a left hook, connects. Lobov has a small cut on his nose. Lobov ducks inside and lands an uppercut. That was different. Body kick from Lobov. 10-9 Johnson.

Round 2 – Two outside leg kicks from Lobov. Johnson with a left to the head and chest. Lobov steps in with a left. Johnson with an inside leg kick Lobov keeps coming forward. He’s not giving Johnson any room. Johnson rips the body with a straight left. He land a counter left over the top to the chin. Lobov with a right hook to the gut. Johnson with a right that wobbles Lobov, but he wags his finger and says he’s not hurt. More low kicks from Johnson. Right hook from Lobov. Counter uppercut from Lobov. Lobov lands a couple of punches from odd angles. Outside leg kick from Lobov. He has his hands down, just continually pressing. Low kick from Lobov. Closer round, I’ll go 10-9 Lobov.

Round 3 – Johnson with an outside leg kick. Lobov with a jab. They’re laughing at each other. Straight left from Johnson. He’s pawing with it. Lobov trying to kick the front leg but it’s not setting anything else up now. Johnson much more active early. Lobov misses with a spinning kick. Lobov with a counter right. Johnson connects with a lead left again. Now with the right. Body work. Beauty 1-2 might be the hardest he’s landed in the fight. Jabs with both hands. Another with the right. Lobov is missing now, he’s gassed slightly. Johnson isn’t slowing down at all. Johnson lands a right that puts Lobov down to one knee. He is acting like he slipped. Johnson with a takedown. He rides out the round there. 10-9 and 29-28 Johnson.

Michael Johnson defeated Artem Lobov via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

Misha Cirkunov vs. Patrick Cummins

Round 1 – Cirkunov comes out bombing. He looks for a takedown, but Cummins is doing a good job of staying upright. They battled for a while but Cummins finally went down while trying a throw – and Cirkunov went right into mount. He immediately secures an arm triangle, pops out to side, and that’s a wrap.

Andre Soukhamthath vs. Jonathan Martinez

Round 1 – Martine with a leg kick. Left and a body kick from Martinez. He’s really kicking early. Jab from Soukhamthath. Inside leg kick. Soukhamthath with a big right over the top that drops Martinez! He holds Martinez there for a bit but can’t gain an advantage. They’re up and Martinez gets hit low. He takes a brief break. Two short shots from Soukhamthath on the restart. They clinch again. On the break, they get at at. Knee from Martinez, right from Soukhamthath He lands a leg kick too. Soukhamthath in close and landing to the body. Spinning back elbow connects! Another shot puts him down, but it’s right at the horn! 10-8 Soukhamthath.

Round 2 – Soukhamthath with a right. Martinez with two body kicks. Soukhamthath clinches. Martinez has a cut on his shin. They separate. Soukhamthath with an elbow. Martinez is covering up and Soukhamthath is all over him, body and head. The ref inexplicably stopped them for a low blow, but it wasn’t. They clinch again and now Martinez has reversed position and takes Soukhamthath down. He’s working in half and landing punches and elbows. Soukhamthath is trying to lock him down but Martinez slides through to side. Soukhamthath is eating elbows to the shoulder, which is unique. Soukhamthath to his feet, and they separate with a minute to go. Body and head kick from Martinez. They battle to the horn. 10-9 Soukhamthath.

Round 3 – Soukhamthath starts on fire with elbows in close. Martinez brings him in closer to land knees, then pins him against the fence. They battle there for a while. Martinez tries to get a takedown but can’t. Soukhamthath reverses position. He gets his own takedown, basically into side. Soukhamthath tries to take the back but Martinez scrambles and ends up on top. Now they’re back up. This is all over the place. Soukhamthath is on his back now, briefly. He’s holding a standing arm triangle. The horn sounds to end an entertaining fight. I’ll go 10-9 and 30-26 Soukhamthath, but that score doesn’t really encapsulate the fight.

Andre Soukhamthath defeated Jonathan Martinez via unanimous decision (30-26, 29-28, 29-28)

Gian Villante vs. Ed Herman

Round 1 – They both whiff on home run shots immediately. Herman with a kick. Villante with a right. Same sequence repeats itself. Villante with a body kick that Herman catches, but does nothing with. They both just miss again. Herman has a small cut on the inside of his nose. Jab from Herman. Herman lands a left hook. Herman sticks a straight left him his face. Villante with a half-speed head kick. Villante with two huge counter rights that stagger Herman. Herman fires back though. Body shot from Short Fuse. Villante with another right hook. Herman with a right over the top. Both men connect with jabs. Herman with a counter. Hard jab from Herman. Villante has a cut on his nose now. 10-9 Villante.

Round 2 – The ref wants to check Herman’s cut. He’s good. Herman misses with two rights. Villante with a lead left hook. Herman catches Villante and his eye is bloodied. He’s backing off, albeit briefly. They trade rights. This is a slugfest, as expected. Villante with a head kick, Herman with right. Herman with another stiff jab. Herman with an outside leg kick. And a left. His timing is getting better this round. Villante with a jab, but misses with the follow-up. Herman back to the outside leg kick, and now goes inside. Villante with another jab. Herman’s mouthpiece falls out. Villante with a huge overhand right. Another, but Herman is connecting while he’s throwing them. Herman with a short right that wobbled Vilante a bit. Herman is finding a home for his right more than Villante is. They exchange huge shots! Good round. 10-9 Herman.

Round 3 – Villante with a jab. Herman with a front kick. They’re missing more now. More circling. Herman is doing a good job of stepping away from shots. Villante’s nose is a mess. Villante’s jab is still landing though. Herman with a jab and a body shot. Villante backs Herman up and lands a couple of lefts. Herman looks for a takedown, but there’s nothing there. Villante looks for his own takedown but Herman pushes him against the fence and lands a knee. They don’t hang out there long. They brawl throw some kicks close to the horn. 10-9 and 29-28 Herman.

Alex Garcia vs. Court McGee

Round 1 – McGee with early pressure, but eats a big shot and backs off. Garcia drags McGee to the mat, but not for long. Garcia still has him against the fence, controlling position. He jumps on Court’s back and tries to sink a choke. McGee stays standing, eventually dumping him off and resetting. McGee is bringing pressure again but walks into a right. McGee with a left over the top. Garcia misses with a left. McGee with a late takedown. 10-9 Garcia.

Round 2 – Garcia, as usual, leads with a power shot. McGee seems to have hurt Garcia with a shot, and he’s down on the mat. It looked like a slip or something, but Garcia is stuck now. McGee is trying to get rid of the underhooks Garcia has, and eventually clears them. Garcia is trying to get the ref to stand it up. He’s not. McGee really isn’t doing anything though. Finally he’s landing a few body shots and a couple of elbows. Garcia has his head against the cage and he’s not even trying to get up. And, oddly, as soon as McGee does something active, that’s when the ref stands them up. Garcia looks for a takedown, and lands a hard right in the scramble for position. McGee turns it around and gets Garcia to the mat again. Body punches from McGee. 10-9 McGee.

Round 3 – McGee with a leg kick. Garcia counters with a 1-2. Garcia scoops a single, but McGee fights him off and looks for his own. They continue to battle back and forth, but neither of them can gain a real advantage. Finally Garcia gets on top of McGee almost halfway through the round, and takes the back. McGee shakes off a hook and tries to reverse position, but can’t. Now he has both hooks. Two minutes to go. McGee rolls over on top and lands a couple of elbows. Garcia is pressed against the fence. McGee stands up and looks to fall back in with punches. He’s working in hald, dropping effective punches. Garcia tries to scramble away but can’t. Elbows from Court. McGee looks for a guillotine at the horn. 10-9 and 29-28 McGee.

Court McGee defeated Alex Garcia via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-28)

Nordine Taleb vs. Sean Strickland

Round 1 – Left from Strickland. Leg kick from Taleb. They both land hard lefts. Body shot from Taleb. Inside leg kick as well. Another. Strickland cracks him with a right. Taleb gets to jabbing. Outside leg kick from Taleb. Strickland jabbing. Taleb with a nice lead left hook and some jabs. Taleb with a right and a body kick. Strickland isn’t throwing with a lot of power, and can’t find his range. Taleb is touching him up some more with the low kicks. Taleb with an uppercut and two more inside leg kicks. Easy 10-9 for Taleb.

Round 2 – Taleb right back to the inside leg kicks. Strickland throwing a steady stream of jabs that are coming up short. Body kick from Taleb. Strickland actually lands a decent right, and then another one drops Taleb! Taleb is up but Strickland brings the pressure. Another combo from Strickland! Taleb is trying to circle out but he’s eating shots. He collapses to the mat again! Strickland sits in his guard lands three more big rights! Finally another leads the ref to stop it. Taleb pops up, angry with the stoppage. But it looked good to me on first glance.

Thibault Gouti vs. Nasrat Haqparast

Round 1 – Haqparast moves in with a combo ended with a nice looping right. He lands another one but gets eye poked. He only needs a few seconds to recover. Gouti with a lead right. Haqparast lands a hard left that wobbles Gouti. Gouti’s right is blocked. Snapping lead left and two jabs from Haqparast. Four-punch combo, and he follows it with two more. Gouti is taking them though. Gouti with a lead left. Haqparast with his own lead left that drops Gouti! He’s back up but Haqparast is chasing him down. They reset in the center. Gouti is still throwing and lands to the body. Again. Haqparast puts together another combo. Gouti rips the body again. Haqparast just misses a home run left. 10-9 Haqparast.

Round 2 – Gouti with two rights. Haqparast circling away. They’re both putting together combinations but no one is landing consistently yet. Gouti is much more active though. Hard inside leg kick from Haqparast. Gouti with a nice uppercut. Low leg kicks from both men. Lead left connects for Haqparast. Another. He goes to the body twice. Gouti tries to come back to the body. Lead left and a left body kick from Haqparast. Inside leg kick from him as well. Gouti throwing out the jab. Nice combo from Haqparast. Counter left from Haqparast. Haqparast lands a front kick to the chest and it looks like Gouti is hurt from it. He fires back though. Counter left again from Haqparast. Gouti continuing to pressure though. Gouti asks for time due to an eyepoke, ref says no. The horn goes a few seconds later though. 10-9 Haqparast.

Round 3 – Inside leg kick from Haqparast. Gouti pressing, throwing hands. Haqparast lands a left that wobbles Gouti. Haqparast pressures and lands about ten body shots in a row! Gouti takes them and ask for more. Gouti throws a few punches, but eats another body kick that hurts Gouti. Another one! Gouti is literally running away as fast as he can, in major pain. Finally he goes down and Haqparast jumps into his guard. They both might be exhausted after that track meet. Haqparast postures up with punches and elbows. Gouti is just trying to grab his arms. Hammerfists. About a minute has passed now, and Gouti is still trying to get his wits about him. A steady stream of punches and elbows are hitting him in the head though. Gouti looks for a kimura briefly. Gouti gets up with 35 seconds to go. Big left from Haqparast. Gouti still walking forward and lands a body shot. They brawl it out. Gouti with a couple of knees and misses with a spin kick. Wow, that was crazy. 10-8 and 30-26 Haqparast.

Nasrat Haqparast defeated Thibault Gouti via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-28, 30-26)

Calvin Kattar vs. Chris Fishgold

Round 1 – Low kick from Fishgold. He dives in on a double and gets Kattar down. He’s back up in a few seconds though. Fishgold with two ig lefts that stun Kattar. Back to the takedown attempts but Kattar fights them off. Outside low calf kick from Fishgold. Again. Kattar looking to jab. Fishgold with a counter right and a leg kick. Another combination from the fighter from Liverpool. Uppercut from Kattar but Fishgold lands a hard right at the same time. Jump knee from Kattar. Fishgold with another right. Kattar continues with the jabs and Fishgold’s nose is bleeding fairly badly. He dives onto a leg with no success. Hard combination from Fishfold. Uppercut again from Kattar. Jabs. Kattar with a jab and a right and Fishgold goes down onto his back. Kattar overwhelms him with punches and it’s over just like that. Wow.

Sarah Moras vs. Talita Bernardo

Round 1 – Bernardo with a straight right that connects. Moras with a glancing right hook. Bernardo with an outside leg kick. They both land in a brief exchange. Inside leg kick from Bernardo. Overhand right from Moras. Hard head kick from Bernardo, and then she goes back to the legs. Moras with the long right and she gets there first as Bernardo tries to step in with a shot. Moras stuffs a takedown attempt and lands a big counter right hook. Slapping kick from Bernardo that may have wobbled Moras. She charges in but Moras clinches. Moras can’t hit an outside trip. Bernardo secures a body lock and drags Moras to the ground. Moras immediately attacks from her back, but Bernardo spins to side. Moras gets half back quick. She postures up with some punches, then rolls over with a guillotine. The round ended though. 10-9 Bernardo.

Round 2 – Moras with a right over the top. She lands a decent 1-2. Bernardo misses with a counter. Moras with another looping right. Body kick from Bernardo. Counter right from Bernardo. Jab from Bernardo. Two counters from Moras and they’re trading. Bernardo ended with a nice high kick. Bernardo is putting her jab in Moras’ face. Moras is leading with power shots more often. Bernardo clinches and gets a trip takedown. Straight into mount, but only for a couple of seconds. She’s in half now, looking for an arm triangle. Bernardo with great pressure, and she finally gets to side after trying for a full minute. Moras scrambles back to half. 10-9 Bernardo.

Round 3 – Bernardo with an immediate counter to an aggressive Moras. But she dives under and puts Bernardo on her back. Bernardo trying to lock her down. Moras scrambles and Bernardo sweeps her. Moras attacking a kimura but she has no leverage. Elbows from the bottom from Moras. Bernardo passes to side and now north-south. Body shots from Bernardo. Back to side. Moras very scrambly but can’t get Bernardo off of her. Moras almost takes her back, but Bernardo defends and goes back to north-south. She seems content to just trap Moras in position and mitigate danger. Few punches from Bernardo now as she reverts back into Moras’ traditional full guard. Moras gets up and immediately charges forward at Bernardo, getting a takedown. She dives on a choke attempt but Bernardo defends. Elbows from Moras on the bottom. Moras gets up again and presses with punches. Bernardo deals with it and it goes to the horn. 10-9 and 30-27 Bernardo.

Talita Bernardo defeated Sarah Moras via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Te Edwards vs. Don Madge

Round 1 – They get to trading early. Madge lands a right. Another one drops Edwards! He’s back up and puts Madge on his back. That was a crazy start. Edwards settles in for a little while, but Madge postures up and secures an armbar! Edwards looks dead to rights but somehow escapes! His arm was at an ugly position though. He took back top position. Madge looks for an omoplata. Edwards steps out, and eats an upkick. Edwards isn’t sure what to do – he waits a few seconds before he dives back in. Madge immediately looking for something from the bottom again. Edwards steps back out. He stands over him for a while before the ref finally returns the action to the feet. Madge goes forward immediately and lands a couple of shots. He pushes Edwards against the cage. 10-9 Madge.

Round 2 – Madge with a body kick. A left head kick hurts Edwards! The right head kick ENDS HIM! Follow-up punches land but aren’t even necessary

Arjan Bhullar vs. Marcelo Holm

Round 1 – Bhullar with a jab. Golm returns it. Golm kicks low. Bhullar bringing pressure. Golm with another leg kick. Front kick to the belly. Bhullar tries to bully him into the fence but it didn’t work. Body shot from Golm. Bhullar with a slapping left and a knee. Golm chops him down with a hard leg kick. He’s back up right away though, and lands a jab. Another stiff jab. Golm keeps chopping the leg, and lands a right hook. Lead left hook lands for Golm. Bhullar with a jab and a shovel hook. He gets a hold of Golm against the fence. Golm spins away though. Golm misses with a front kick. They both lands punches in close. Uppercut on a clinch break from Bhullar. Awkward punches score in close for each fighter. Bhullar clinches again. A left finds a home as they separate. 10-9 Bhullar I guess.

Round 2 – Golm with a jab while moving backwards. Bhullar with a right as he tries to wade into the clinch. Golm cracked the leg though. Golm scores with a knee that stuns Bhullar briefly. Now he’s clinching. Bhullar reverses position. Golm tries to land a knee and Bhullar scoops the leg, but he can’t get Golm to the floor and they separate. Golm with a jump knee and a nice combination follows it. Another leg kick. They trade jabs, and Bhullar moves Golm over to the fence with two minutes to go. Golm almost hits an outside trip, and uses it to get away. More jabs. More clinch work. They spend and extended period of time here, but there’s not much happening. That’s where the round ends. 10-9 Golm.

Round 3 – Golm wit a jab. Bhullar bullies his way into the clinch with punches. He’s using foot stomps. Golm appears to have a swollen foot, so that’s a good idea. Golm separates. Head kick from Golm is blocked. Bhullar pushes forward, scoops, Golm up, and just sort of deposits him on the floor like when you drop your hockey bag. Bhullar works in full guard against the cage. He’s landing the odd elbow, but not much else. He passes to half guard with 1:30 to go and lands an elbow. Golm got back to full guard. Bhullar grinding away though, and starting to land more. Golm pushes him away, but he jumps back in with a nice shot. 10-9 and 29-28 Bhullar.

Arjan Bhullar defeated Marcelo Golm via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-27)

Stevie Ray vs. Jessin Ayari

Round 1 – They trade low kicks. Ray kicks inside, close to the cup. Again. Ayari moving forward with jabs. Ray with a straight left, and he goes back to the leg kicks. He’s relentless with them. Ayari with a nice counter uppercut and left hook. He lands a hard straight right behind a jab. Another counter right. Ray is trying to go back to the kicks but Ayari is timing him well now. Ray misses with a crescent kick but lands a side kick to the belly. Ayari fires back with his own body kick. Another good counter from Ayari. Head kick from Ray is blocked. They clinch late. 10-9 Ayari.

Round 2 – Ayari opens with low kicks this time. Ray charges forward and lands a glancing left. He lands two inside leg kicks as well. And two more. He whiffs on a head kick though. It’s kicks and feints and kicks and feints. As I say that, they both step up the pace. Ayari lands a counter, but eats two lefts soon after. Two overhand rights score for Ayari. Another left makes it through from Ray. Ayari jabbing his way in. Ayari with a very nice straight right. Ray immediately responds with a straight left. Ayari scores again. They clinch for a few seconds and Ayari clubs Ray with a forearm shot on the way out. Ray goes back to the inside leg kick. Another combo from Ayari at the horn. 10-9 Ayari.

Round 3 – Side kick to the knee from Ray. Ayari slaps with an outside leg kick. Ray kicks the inside of the leg twice. He just keeps going to it because it’s working, but it’s not doing much damage. Head kicks now. They don’t connect. They trade jabs. Both men whiff on multiple shots in a row. Pawing counter left from Ayari. Ray responds with a counter left hook. A leg kick and left hook combo scores for Ray. Ayari with a beautiful right cross and uppercut. Ray took them well though. Ayari with a counter left. And again. Ray’s nose is really bleeding now. He misses with a head kick. He does land a couple of his owns counters though. Ayari puts his hands behind his back, but Ray can’t connect. 10-9 and 30-27 Ayari.

Stevie Ray defeated Jessin Ayari via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

That’s laughably bad scoring.
