Sijara Eubanks: Joe Rogan saying he didn’t know who I am was ‘disrespectful’

Early this month, the original booking that was set to headline UFC 230 was a women’s flyweight title fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Sijara Eubanks. This was not exactly taken pleasantly by MMA fans and observers, including Joe Rogan.

Rogan’s initial response was a question of who Eubanks was. This apparently offended The Ultimate Fighter competitor, who is now looking to confront the veteran UFC analyst.

“I tweeted him but he didn’t tweet back. Joe knows who I am, he knows who I was before I said it,” Eubanks said Monday on The MMA Hour (transcript via MMA Mania). “He didn’t have to say that on his blog. I thought it was disrespectful.”

“Me and Joe, I am not happy with Joe Rogan,” she continued. “He can’t avoid interviewing me one day. One day he is going to find himself with me in the cage with the mic and I am going to let him know exactly how I feel.”

The UFC decided to switch up their original plans and instead booked a heavyweight title fight between Daniel Cormier and Derrick Lewis to headline the Madison Square Garden card on November 3rd. Eubanks will still be part of the event, where she faces Roxanne Modafferi on the preliminary card, with potential to get a title shot if she wins. She was slated to fight for the inaugural women’s flyweight belt last year, but was pulled from her bout vs. Nicco Montano due to a failed weight cut.

Eubanks’ interview begins at the 19:40 mark of the video above.
