Whether he was serious or not, Nate Diaz has been non-committal about his scheduled co-main event bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 230 on November 3rd in New York City. Now, it looks like he will not be fighting after all.

According to a report by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Poirier had suffered an “undisclosed injury” during training, forcing him out of the said contest.

“The Diamond” has been on an impressive three-fight win streak since November 2017, where he defeated former champions Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje, and Eddie Alvarez all via stoppage. All three victories also earned him post-fight bonuses.

It is also Diaz’s first fight in two years, since UFC 202 in August 2016. He lost the said fight via majority decision, but earned him the biggest paycheck of his entire career with a disclosed amount of $2 million.

A headliner for UFC 230 had just been finalized on Tuesday, when the company decided to book a heavyweight title fight between champion Daniel Cormier and Derrick Lewis.
