Training in MMA, BJJ, and other martial arts can teach a person discipline, keep them fit, and even lead to a career in professional fighting. MMA training can also be handy in situations where the law is being broken and a suspected criminal needs to be defended against, stopped, and detained.
A number of fighters (professional, amateur, active, and retired) have used their know-how to halt an alleged criminal. Additionally, individuals with just a little bit of training under their belt have transformed themselves from bystanders to crime-fighters, too.
This stream includes stories of fighters, and others who have trained in MMA, attempting to use their skills in potentially dangerous situations with suspected criminals. Among the list are incidents with famous figures such as Jon Jones, Renzo Gracie, and Matt Serra.
Even if you are a fighter yourself, or have trained in martial arts, Bloody Elbow does not advise you to intervene in any situation where you suspect the law is being broken. Instead, please call your local law enforcement agency.
