In the UFC Hamburg co-main event, the UFC’s #9 ranked light heavyweight Corey Anderson earned himself a unanimous decision over the #3 Glover Teixeira. The wrestling was the biggest asset of Anderson’s attack, but he also got off with several solid strikes, even making Teixeira do the chicken dance at one point. Consistency has plagued Anderson as of late, so perhaps this will be the beginning of something? Speaking of consistency, or a lack there of, Teixeira continues to alternate wins and losses, and could even get bumped out of the top-5 at 205 pounds.
Co-main event:
Corey Anderson def. Glover Teixeira by unanimous decision (30-27 x3): Light Heavyweight
Teixeira pressed the action right out of the gate, backing up Anderson with his strikes. Anderson struggled to get the takedown at first, but then was able to deploy a rinse and repeat wrestling game. Back on the feet, Anderson clipped Teixeira with a clean uppercut which led to a takedown attempt, but found himself defending a guillotine as time ran out.
The lightweight traded on the feet a bit before Anderson initiated a scramble. Back on the feet, a short shot wobbled Teixeira, causing him to do the chicken dance, and used the moment to obtain top position. Teixeira returned to his feet, but it was short lived as Anderson brought him right back down. Anderson was able to grind on Teixeira in the final round, making the Brazilian carry his weight. On the feet, Anderson was also able to land some punches here and there as Teixeira was pretty much defensive for the rest of the fight.
