Cris Cyborg will more than likely defend her UFC featherweight belt against the promotion’s bantamweight champ, Amanda Nunes, at UFC 232 this December. Online gambling site BetDSI.com set the opening odds for the potential title fight, with Cyborg owning the role of betting favorite at -220, and Nunes playing the part of underdog at +180. Cyborg is typically found as a mega-favorite in a lot of her matchups, clearing -1000 with ease and on multiple occasions, but this time she isn’t being shown the same sort of respect. In the post-Strikeforce age, the only other Cyborg matchup that began with a line this close was when she opened as a -400 favorite against a +300 Holly Holm for UFC 222. The rest of her UFC and Invicta betting lines have been longer than a trip to Taiwan.

Nunes is being shown quite a bit of respect by the odds makers. It might be fair to say that Nunes is the hardest puncher that Cyborg has ever faced, so it’s not really too surprising to see this line as tight as it is. Yes, Cyborg is the hardest puncher that Nunes has faced as well. Duh! Nunes is no stranger to opening as the underdog either, since she has been pegged with a plus sign in seven out of her ten UFC bouts. Of those seven dog tags, Nunes overcame the odds six times, so she has definitely proven herself to be a live look time and time again. Stay tuned to Bloody Elbow as further details of this possible UFC 232 title fight unfolds.
