UFC 225 results: CM Punk loses one-sided decision to Mike Jackson
Bloody Elbow 2.0 | Anton Tabuena

Former professional wrestler, and Chicago’s own, CM Punk just went the distance in the UFC, losing a lopsided decision to Mike Jackson to open up the UFC 225 main card. The inexperienced fighters exchanged some descent right hands early on, and spent a lot of time jockeying for position. Punk even scored a takedown late in the opening round. Come round two, Jackson completely took over the fight, in both the standup and the grappling department, and the domination continued throughout the third round as well. CM Punk came into this fight 0-1, losing to Mickey Gall in his pro/UFC debut, and the same credentials, if we want to call them credentials, applied to Mike Jackson. Jackson is now 1-1 in the UFC and CM Punk is now 0-2.

Main Card:

Mike Jackson def. CM Punk by unanimous decision (30-26 x3): Welterweight

A ‘CM Punk’ chant opened up the bout, followed by Jackson clipping Punk with a right hand. Punk landed a right of his own before closing the distance and forced Jackson up against the cage. Jackson reversed Punk up against the cage, but Punk reversed him and worked for the takedown. With about 40 seconds left in the round, Punk blasted a double leg, and even landed a few ground strikes before Jackson scrambled back to his feet.

CM Punk made it to a second round in the UFC. Jackson hurt Punk with a right hand and even had him on the ropes, but Punk jumped on a a guillotine, and Jackson dropped down into the guard. Jackson landed some really solid ground strikes on his opponent, as the bloodied up Punk had very few answers off of his back. Punk did throw up a triangle attempt for a brief second, but Jackson was having none of it and continued to batter away.

CM Punk made it to a third round in the UFC. Punk used his punches to close the distance, but Jackson quickly reversed the clinch and held Punk up against the fence. Punk kept shooting in, but just had nothing left in the tank, gas or skill, and Jackson continued to dominate.

CM Punk was staggered by this shot from Mike Jackson:
