UFC 224 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the sixth episode for this weekend’s big show in Brazil, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
It’s Ultimate Media Day. Mackenzie Dern is happy she can wear a nice dress and talk to the media. Amanda Cooper thinks Dern’s striking is predictable and she believes she’s going to defeat her. Dern tries to shake her hand on the face-off, but Cooper just walks away. That was embarrassing.
Lyoto Machida talks about how experience has changed his outlook in the cage. Vitor Belfort says that what you do outside of the Octagon has much more value than what you do inside it. They do their staredown with Vitor in his pajamas.
Ronaldo Souza says Kelvin Gastelum hits hard, but he’s going to implement his own game plan and win. Gastelum, speaking Portuguese, says this isn’t a BJJ match, it’s MMA, and that’s his specialty. Raquel Pennington and Amanda Nunes talks a bit and face off as well. Gastelum takes the board with his name on it home, which is kind of funny.
Nunes looks at some old pictures and talks about the people that got her to where she’s at. Cooper cuts weight in the bath and discusses the support from her family, and fighting in front of supportive crowds versus the idea of fighting in Brazil. Jacare jumps rope in his room to break a sweat before starting his weight cut.
Tecia Torres talks about Pennington’s never-ending gas tank, and they show her boxing up her coach to close out the episode.
UFC 224 goes down tonight in Rio.
