If you’re still reeling from the terrible news that Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov has once again been cancelled… there’s more terrible news to report.

MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani confirmed with multiple sources on Monday that welterweight veteran Matt Brown has suffered a torn ACL, which means no UFC on FOX 29 co-main event bout against Carlos Condit.

If you recall, Condit vs. Brown was booked for UFC on FOX 9 way back in December 2013, but Brown got injured and had to withdraw. Condit wound up not competing on that card, and instead was booked against Tyron Woodley, losing by injury TKO after tearing his ACL and meniscus.

Condit (30-11) is trying to snap a three-fight losing streak, which includes the agonizingly close title fight defeat to then-champion Robbie Lawler at UFC 195 in 2016, a submission loss vs. Demian Maia later that August, and most recently a unanimous decision setback vs. Neil Magny at UFC 219 last December.

Brown (21-16) is coming off a sensational KO of Diego Sanchez last November, and it looked to be his retirement fight, but “The Immortal” decided against it and accepted a matchup against a fellow action-fighter in Condit. Unfortunately, it won’t materialize as planned, and Brown is presumably looking at a long recovery after his apparent ACL tear.

UFC on FOX 29 is set for April 14th in Glendale, Arizona and features an epic lightweight main event between… you know what? Let’s not mention their names, just to be on the safe side.
