Vasyl Lomachenko, who is considered by many as the top pound-for-pound boxer today, is currently trying to get a match up with lightweight champion Jorge Linares. In just 11 professional bouts, he’s already won titles in two divisions and is moving up five more pounds to try and take a third championship.
Lomachenko, who likes to goof around in social media and during training, has routinely joked about making a switch to MMA, mentioning that he has won “many wrestling, judo and sambo tournaments” in the past. He did the same, in his last social media call out of Linares, showing footage of him in the wrestling mat.
You ready to fight me at 135 @JorgeLinares ? If not, maybe I’ll go win a belt in the UFC first while waiting on you. pic.twitter.com/XHApvExSoD

UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw, who has sparred Lomachenko in the past (and “got his ass whooped”), replied on twitter as well.
Come to the Octagon and let’s do this. Hit up @danawhite @seanshelby https://t.co/OzdKWIX7Vo

The Ukrainian boxer has always been an excellent athlete, and has reportedly done gymnastics and ballet during his younger days to compliment his boxing. Prior to being arguably the best amateur boxer in history, Lomachenko also competed in grappling and other combat sports as a child.
It’s obviously unlikely that we’ll ever see him trade in his 8 oz gloves for 4 oz ones in MMA, but don’t worry, I’m sure ‘No Mas-cheko’ will still continue to make people tap out in boxing.
