UFC 219 was a night filled with decisions, and the main event was no exception. Women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg won a unanimous verdict over Holly Holm to keep her title, with the Brazilian going into a fifth round for the first time in her incredible career. As it turns out, her first ever round five was the deciding factor in the scorecards.
Judges Dave Hagen and Chris Lee had it 48-47, while Derek Cleary scored it 49-46. What may come as a surprise is that Hagen and Lee both gave Holm the opening two rounds, so Cyborg needed to sweep the remaining rounds in order to get the W, and thankfully for her, that’s what she accomplished.

It’s rather curious that Holm got two rounds, let alone one, when you consider how completely lopsided the FightMetric stats were for what was essentially an all-striking affair.
This isn’t to say FightMetric is the be-all, end-all for debating who won a fight, but had Holm taken the fifth frame, there surely would’ve been “Robbery!” cries ringing around the MMA world.
