Tyron Woodley was looking for a fight with Georges St-Pierre. Since that will not be materializing, he has elected to not put off shoulder surgery any longer. In an interview on his weekly TMZ show, the UFC welterweight champion said that he wants to get his shoulder fixed since there aren’t any ultra-alluring fights out there for him right now:

“What’s going to happen is that I’m going to go ahead and get this shoulder repaired. I’ve been saying, ‘You know what, I don’t want to get it cut on, I don’t want to get it repaired.’ But if there’s no fight that really makes a ton of sense for me to take the risk, to not be 100 percent with my shoulder, then I’m going to go ahead and have it repaired.

“They’re not going to do a full orthopedic rehabilitation, but they’re going to do a scope and they’re going to anchor down some sides. Then I’m going to get some PRP, some stem cells. I’m doing everything.”

He did reiterate that the man he wanted to fight was GSP, but he doesn’t seem to believe the reason that St-Pierre had to give up the UFC middleweight title he won from Michael Bisping:

“I wanna fight Georges, man. I offered to go up and fight him at middleweight, now he faked some backside injury, now he vacated the belt. So I don’t know man.”

Woodley (18-3-1, 8-2-1 UFC) is coming off a dull unanimous victory over Demian Maia in July. There is no timetable for his return at this point.
