Tim Hague died on June 16th, 2017 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The former UFC heavyweight had been TKO’d in a boxing match versus Adam Braidwood two days prior.
In the fight with Braidwood, Hague was knocked down repeatedly before the bout was eventually stopped. During the fight he suffered a brain bleed. After leaving the ring under his own power, he said he felt ill backstage.
Hague was rushed to hospital where it was discovered he was suffering from a hematoma in his brain. He was placed into an induced coma and surgery was performed to alleviate the pressure the hematoma was placing on his brain.
Sadly, the surgery was not able to save Hague’s life and he was taken off of life support.
Since Hague’s death, some have questioned whether he should have been allowed to compete on the night he sustained his fatal injury.
