The UFC’s next trip to Orlando has it’s first bout, as Combate reported a clash between former strawweight title challengers Jessica Andrade and Karolina Kowalkiewicz. UFC officials have yet to announce the matchup themselves.
Jessica Andrade (17-6) came up short in her title fight against Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 211 back in May, but she bounced back from the unanimous decision loss with a “Fight Of The Night” performance against Claudia Gadelha at September’s UFC Japan. Andrade won the fight via unanimous decision in what has to be considered the biggest win of her career.
Karolina Kowalkiewicz (11-2) snapped a two-fight losing skid to Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha with a comfortable unanimous decision win over Jodie Esquibel, in her home country of Poland back in October. She also holds a victory over current champion, Rose Namajunas, whom she defeated by split decision at UFC 201 in July 2016. Following the win over Esquibel, Kowalkiewicz called for a fight against the Brazilian, to which Andrade also expressed interest.
UFC on FOX 28 takes place at the Amway Center on February 24th. So far, no other fights have been linked to the card.
