One of the top rising talents in women’s MMA will have her next bout on Fight Pass. Mackenzie Dern isn’t in the UFC, yet, but she may be inching closer. Although the promotion is laying the bedrock for a flyweight division in their latest season of the Ultimate Fighter, Dern is heading to one of the top proving grounds for rising prospects, Invicta FC, where she’s hoping she can prove she’s ready to stay at strawweight instead.

Dern revealed on a recent episode of the MMA Hour that she’s signed to fight 2016 strawweight title contender Kaline Medeiros at Invicta FC 26, on December 8th. The bout would be Dern’s first back at 115 lbs since 2016, having fought at 120 and 125 over the course of the last year.

It seems the BJJ world champion black belt, under ‘Megaton’ Dias, is hoping that if she can make weight against Medeiros and win her fight, this could be her last bout before signing with the UFC. To date, Dern is undefeated, with a 4-0 record. Medeiros would represent her most experienced opposition to date.

For her part, the 38-year-old Kaline ‘Dark Angel’ hasn’t competed since losing her title shot to Angela Hill last year. That loss broke a 5 fight unbeaten streak, dropping her overall record to 8-5 overall.

Invicta FC 26 is set to take place in Las Vegas, NV at the Park Theater. The card is expected to be headlined by a flyweight title bout between champion Jennifer Maia and challenger Agnieszka Niedzwiedz.
