Join us tonight on Bloody Elbow for live results, streaming video (prelims) and detailed play-by-play as Bellator 186 comes to Penn State University in University Park, PA. The headliner will see new Bellator light heavyweight champion Ryan Bader defending his title for the first time against Linton Vassell.

Ryan Bader vs. Linton Vassell [LHW title]

Round 1 – Bader looks for an early takedown. Vassell fights him off and looks for his own. Bader reverses back and gets Vassell to the floor. Vassell gets up after about 40 seconds. He cracks Bader with a leg kick. And another. Bader jumps in with a jab. Another couple of leg kicks and a right from Vassell. Now he kicks the body. Right as he attempts another kick, Bader power doubles him to the floor. Bader tries to pass but Vassell is back up. He almost gets his own takedown but Bader spins around and takes the top. Vassell gets to a seated position and eats a few punches. Bader lands a knee to the body and a left on the horn. 10-9 Bader.

Round 2 – Bader whiffs on a head kick. He lands a lead right and charges in for a takedown. Bader landing short punches on Vassell, who is again in a seated position. This is not very exciting. Vassell can’t escape. Bader lands a knee to the body. Vassell gets to his feet for two seconds, then gets dragged back down. Bader finally starts opening up and land a few hammerfists. More and more are coming now. He has control of Vassell’s arm and he’s pretty much defenseless. Big shots and the ref jumps in.

Ilima Macfarlane vs. Emily Ducote [FLW title]

Round 1 – Ducote with a leg kick. They both land rights. Outside leg kick from Ducote again. They clinch up. Knee from Macfarlane. She gets the Thai clinch and scores with another knee. Ducote pulls away. They trade rights and kicks. Macfarlane opens up with a big combo. Ducote on her bike a gain. Macfarlane with more knees to the gut in the clinch. Short elbow. She gets a takedown with two minutes to go. She’s looking to secure a choke, but settled for a neck crank. She gives it up to drop elbows. Ducote keeping her in half guard, but Macfarlane looking to isolate an arm. She jumps across the other side for an armbar but Ducote defends. 10-9 Macfarlane.

Round 2 – Leg kick from Ducote. Another. Macfarlane not throwing early. Jab from Macfarlane. Ducote continuging to kick. Ducote with a right. Macfarlane missing. She landed a right there though. Combo from Macfarlane. Ducote continuing to kick the outside of the lead leg. Macfarlane finally decides to kick back. They trade kicks. Nice combo from Ducote. Nice right from Macfarlane. Macfarlane with a left. Hard leg kick from Ducote. Superwoman punch from Macfarlane. Macfarlane looking for a late takedown but can’t get it. 10-9 Ducote.

Round 3 – Ducote with more kicks. Nice left form Ducote. Macfarlane lands a couple of shots but can’t secure a takedown. Or come close at all, really. Right from Macfarlane while Ducote lands an inside leg kick. They trade rights. Macfarlane catches a kick, clinches, and lands two hard knees to the belly. She’s just holding her in a Thai clinch variation and Ducote can’t escape. Well, now she has, halfway through the round. Hard combo from Macfarlane. Inside leg kick from Ducote. Macfarlane deftly evades some punches and is in on a single. She gets her against the cage and switches to a double, but there’s nothing there. She perseveres and bearly gets her down with a double, then finally does with 25 seconds to go. She lands a couple of punches. 10-9 Macfarlane.

Round 4 – They trade knees in the clinch. Left from Ducote. Macfarlane with a nice reaching right. Spinning back fist attempt from Macfarlane comes up short. Leg kick from Ducote. Jab from Macfarlane. Another inside leg kick from Ducote. Macfarlane slips a leg and a front kick in. They trade rights. Another inside leg kick. Hard right from Macfarlane. Ducote fires back with her own. She scores with a left too. Hard kick from from Macfarlane. Beautiful two-punch combo from Macfarlane. And a left. Superwoman punch again from Macfarlane. Ducote shot in but got hip-tossed to the floor. She managed to scramble to top position with 25 seconds left though. She passes to half. 10-9 Macfarlane.

Round 5 – Combo from Macfarlane, and another superwoman punch. Ducote with a leg kick. They trade shots. Macfarlane scores with a left hook. INside leg kick from Ducote. Macfarlane with a kick. Ducote with another kick that Macfarlane tried to catch, but it didn’t work. She tried to throw Ducote to the mat but again Ducote ended up on top. Macfarlane with the rubber guard and Ducote is stuck. They’re seriously stalled out here. Macfarlane looking to secure a triangle. She changes sides and seems to have it. She grabs the arm, and Ducote taps. That was a dead orchard. Holy cow.

Phil Davis vs. Leo Leite

Round 1 – Davis with an outside leg kick. Body kick too. Davis is coming up short on his punches. Leite clinched up but Davis reversed and lands some knees. Leite almost hits a judo throw but Davis fights it off. Davis throws him to the ground but Leite uses a leglock attempt to get up. Hard knees to the body from Davis. They break. Davis with a right. Hard body kick from Mr. Wonderful. Nice left fro Davis. He just misses with a head kick. Wide left hook scores for Davis. He lands another right after a brief takedown attempt. Leite fires back. Leite with a left and he misses with a combo. 10-9 Davis.

Round 2 – Davis lands a hard left hook. Head kick blocked by Leite. Leite complains of an eye poke. They restart after 45 seconds or so. Leite fights off a takedown attempt. Leite digs to the body. Davis with an inside leg kick. Leite with a left. They both land in close. Davis with a hard outside leg kick. They clinhc briefly. They trade shots again. Davis ties Leite up against the fence and they stall out. Davis with a knee to the belly. He’s got a body lock. Leite eats a few short rights and they break. They’re doing some staring now. Leite with a right. 10-9 Davis, but closer.

Round 3 – They’re both regularly missing with punches. Davis is active but he’s just hitting Leite’s gloves. He finally lands a left hook. Leite charges in but can’t land. Davis backs him against the cage but still doesn’t open up. He lands a right. Leite lands his own. Davis with a body kick. Davis has a takedown attempt stuffed. Leite with a glancing right. Davis wit ha two-punch combo. Fails on the takedown attempt again. Hard left hook from Davis. He clinches and lands a knee to the body. He lands a right hook on the break. Leite throwing and missing . Davis with an uppercut. They both miss with punches. 10-9 and 30-27 Davis, but that was uneventful.

Ed Ruth vs. Chris Dempsey

Round 1 – Dempsey scooped a single briefly, then remembered who he was in ther with. Ruth lands a couple of rights. Dempsey with a left. Ruth with a kick, and then he spins around to Dempsey’s back. He has Dempsey on his knees with one hook in. Now he’s just riding him. He scrambles and ends up in a high mount. Now side against the cage. Ruth stands, then falls into half guard. He’s extremely active. He moves to mount with 2:20 to go. Dempsey escapes but Ruth still has a hold of him on the feet. Ruth lands a knee on the break. Dempsey with the left. Ruth with a jab. They trade jabs. Dempsey with a hard right. Ruth goes back to kicking the legs. Another right lands for Dempsey. Ruth with a takedown. 10-9 Ruth.

Round 2 – They both throw some jabs, and no one really lands. Ruth lands a huge right behind the ear as Dempsey leans, and Dempsey is out cold. One hitter quitter.

Zach Freeman vs. Saad Awad

Round 1 – Awad with an outside leg kick. Freeman returns it. More kicks. Awad lands a short right. That landed right behind the ear and staggered Freeman. He just sort of falls over and the ref waves it off. Awad didn’t even hit him again. Weird finish.
