Today, action continues in the World Boxing Super Series Cruiserweight tournament. So far, we’ve seen Oleksandr Usyk and Yunier Dorticos both advance to the semi-finals. Now, Mairis Briedis and Mike Perez will meet to see who joins them. Winner here not only advances to the semi-finals and a clash with Usyk, he also claims the WBC Cruiserweight title currently held by Briedis.
Perez is one of the fighters in this tournament with a bit more exposure to American fans, as he has fought in the US a number of times, and has had some featured fights against big names like Bryant Jennings and Alexander Povetkin. He comes in off his Cruiserweight debut in June which ended a two year ring absence. Briedis was last seen winning the WBC belt from Marco Huck in a huge win. Oddsmakers at Bovada currently have Briedis as the significant favorite, -600 to +400 for Perez.
Briedis vs. Perez airs live today Saturday, September 30 with a fight time of approximately 5 PM ET. Preliminary card action begins at 2 PM ET. The fight has limited availability on the Audience Network in the US (Yeah, I have never heard of it either) and you can check the WBSS website for streaming options. We’ll have results and discussion right here.
