The UFC continues to build its events for the end of the year with a bevy of recent fight announcements. The latest is a compelling matchup between to bantamweight veterans for the upcoming UFC Fight Night card in Fresno, CA.

MMA Weekly reports Liz Carmouche (11-5) will be coming back to the cage after a year out of commission. She’s currently on a two fight win streak, having beaten Lauren Murphy and Katlyn Chookagian. This will be her seventh UFC outing, with her record in the organization standing at 3-3. The hard-nosed Carmouche has also had stints in Strikeforce and Invicta FC, holding wins over Valentina Shevchenko in 2010, Kaitlin Young, Jessica Andrade, and Colleen Schneider.

Meanwhile, Davis will be returning to action after a win over Cindy Dandois this past June. Davis has a UFC record of 5-2 and is 18-7 overall with wins over Hitomi Akano, Sarah Kaufman, Julie Kedzie, Tonya Evinger (twice), and current UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.

Both have had careers marked by facing tough opponents and notching quality wins along the way. Carmouche fought for the inaugural UFC bantamweight title against Ronda Rousey at UFC 157 – the first UFC card to be headlined by a women’s match. Alexis Davis subsequently fought Rousey the following year at UFC 175 in the co-main event.

This fight will also be a rematch. The two women first faced off at UFC Fight Night 31: Fight for the Troops 3. Davis won their first encounter by unanimous decision.

UFC Fight Night 123 will take place on December 9th, 2017. No venue has been announced. There are rumors that a bout between Cub Swanson and Brian Ortega may be targeted for the event.
