Earlier in the week we showed you a fantastic fan-made compilation of every knockout win in Gennady Golovkin’s professional career. Today we’re taking a look at the very best knockouts from Mexican sensation Canelo Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs). While GGG is rightly billed as one of the most dangerous punchers in boxing, Canelo definitely can crack and is just as capable of folding opponents up with body shots.
At the top of the page (courtesy of editinking), you can catch the top-10 knockouts of Canelo’s career. There’s a mixture of some of his earlier fights in Mexico, back when he was a teenager, along with some recent hits like the one-punch finishes of Amir Khan and James Kirkland. I’m partial to the Liam Smith and Josesito Lopez stoppages because of just how brutal those body shots were.
Canelo Alvarez takes on Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) for Gennady’s middleweight titles on Saturday, September 16th on HBO pay-per-view. The main broadcast starts at an earlier-than-normal start time of 8 PM ET/5 PM PT, from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
