Tweet of the Day: Michael Phelps curious about racing Conor McGregor

Crossing over from one sport to another seems to be the trend these days. UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor made his unsuccessful professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr., and now, former two-time welterweight champion Andre Berto is thinking about making his transition into MMA.

Amid the expected backlash, McGregor did receive a fair share of praises, both from fans and fighters, as well. And since he is known for pushing the limits of his capabilities (backed up by his immense self-belief), another decorated athlete has come forward with the idea of a new challenge.

On Tuesday, 23-time Olympic gold medal Michael Phelps broached the possibility of competing against “The Notorious” in a swimming race.

The 32-year-old Phelps has been bagging Olympic gold since 2004, and is seemingly disinterested with what the competition landscape has to offer. This is probably why he also hyped up a 100m race against a great white shark, which he lost. The predator, however, was computer generated, much to the disappointment to fans who had high hopes for a race with an actual shark.

All of this, of course, is merely fun and games. But there sure are a ton of bored people out there who have enough resources to turn absurd freak show ideas into a reality.
