The opening fight on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor pay-per-view broadcast is a cruiserweight (200 lbs) matchup between undefeated prospect Andrew Tabiti (14-0, 12 KOs) and former champion Steve Cunningham (29-8-1, 13 KOs). Tabiti is one of Floyd Mayweather’s up-and-coming talents, and this is a chance for him to shine in front of a massive viewing audience.
For MMA fans interested in Tabiti, a few years ago he did some sparring with former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. At the time this was taken, Tabiti had just begun his professional career and had a record of 2-0 (2 KOs), and Rockhold was only a few months removed from making his UFC debut. You can watch the video at the top of the page and see for yourself how it went.
Mayweather vs. McGregor will happen on Saturday, August 26th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to the Showtime PPV broadcast, two hours worth of prelims will be televised on the FOX network.
