Jon Jones was surprisingly respectful to arch rival Daniel Cormier after their light heavyweight championship rematch at UFC 214 last month.
Jones, who knocked out Cormier with a head kick and follow up punches, thanked ‘DC’ for being his ‘biggest rival and motivator’ and applauded him for being a ‘model champion’ in the past.
Cormier was overwhelmed with emotion in the post-fight interview and broke down in tears, but rapper and UFC broadcaster Snoop Dogg thinks the former Olympian behaved like a ‘b-tch’.
According to Snoop, Cormier deserved his beat down because he disrespected ‘Bones’ during the lowest point of his career.
“You see what he [Jon Jones] did to DC?” Snoop told TMZ in a recent interview. “He had him crying like a b-tch.
“You shouldn’t have been talking all that sh-t when he was on suspension. Never talk about a man when he’s down; you wanna pick him up when he’s down.”
Jones, of course, was stripped of the light heavyweight title in 2015 after his involvement in a hit-and-run incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The pound-for-pound great was scheduled to rematch Cormier at UFC 200 but was removed at the last minute due to a failed drug test for hydroxy-clomiphene and Letrozole.
Jones rebounded at UFC 214, knocking out Cormier in emphatic fashion and re-establishing himself as the best light heavyweight in the world and perhaps the best pound-for-pound fighter of all time.
The 30-year-old talent called out heavyweight superstar Brock Lesnar in the post-fight interview and said he plans to kick his ‘ass’.
