Yesterday on HBO, a new episode of Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel debuted that Bloody Elbow’s Karim Zidan played a large role in. Karim has been the driving force behind the reporting on Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov’s use of combat sports to promote himself and his cause, and HBO decided to dedicate an episode to the issue largely in part to his hard work on the subject.

Kadyrov, who runs an MMA promotion called Akhmat MMA, said in the episode that he would like his fighters to face off with UFC fighters in a “fight to the death”, among other things.

Today, Zidan spoke at length on the episode, the history behind it, and many other things as a guest on The Luke Thomas Show. You can check out the audio of the interview above, where he also discusses why UFC fighters and other famous athletes do business with Kadyrov, along with a host of other things.

The Luke Thomas Show airs on SiriusXM RUSH channel 93 from 4-6pm each Wednesday.
