Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor embarked on the third day of the four-city press tour to promote their August 26th fight in Las Vegas. But unlike day one and two in Los Angeles and Toronto, respectively, the Brooklyn crowd seemed unimpressed by their antics on stage.
Things have not gotten out of hand, surprisingly, but McGregor has been blamed for supposedly racist remarks, particularly with the “dance for me, boy” remark during the LA press tour. McGregor went on to address the situation in front of the audience in attendance at the Barclay’s Center.
“A lot of the media seem to be saying I’m against black people,” McGregor said. “That’s absolutely f—king ridiculous! Do they not know I’m half-black? Yeah! I’m half-black from the belly button down. And just to show that that’s squashed, here’s a little present for my beautiful, black female fans. [McGregor mimics sexual act.]”
Mayweather has been generally nonchalant about McGregor’s actions, but this time around, he believes the Irishman had crossed the line.
“This is an event where two fighters are competing against one another, but saying a lot of racist things like today toward black women,” Mayweather said during a media scrum after the event (via Fight Hub TV). “I have two black daughters, a black mother, of course I’m a black man.”
“He’s crossing the line, but I can’t really focus on that right now. I’m here to do a job, and my job is to go out there and entertain. But he’s losing a lot of fans by doing that.”
The fourth and final day of the Mayweather-McGregor press tour will take place on Friday, July 14th, in London, England.
