The Bellator NYC co-main event saw a miraculous double knockdown when Matt Mitrione and Fedor Emelianenko connected with punches at the same exact time, sending each other crashing to the canvas. It was Mitrione who was able to recover first, and land some fight ending ground and pound. Mitrione improves to 3-0 in Bellator while Fedor’s Bellator debut ends in a thud in one of the craziest endings you’ll see this year.
Check out Tim Burke’s play-by-play of Matt Mitrione taking out Fedor Emelianenko:
Round 1 – Mitrione dancing on the outside. Fedor waiting for him. Fedor throws the first strike, a leg kick, after 45 seconds. They both dropped each other at the same time with punches! WHOA! THAT WAS ALMOST A DOUBLE KNOCKOUT! But Mitrione is up first and he jumps all over Fedor! It’s over! Fedor is out cold!
Matt Mitrione defeated Fedor Emelianenko by KO (punches), 1:14 of round 1
