Sage Northcutt has been moving around from one major fight camp to another. The young UFC star had already trained with Firas Zahabi at the Tristar Gym in Montreal, and most recently, with Duke Roufus and Tyron Woodley at Roufusport in Milwaukee.
“Super” Sage is slated to face Claudio Puelles at UFC 214 on July 29th, and it was revealed that he has now joined a new team in preparation for the fight. On Monday’s edition of the MMA Hour, Team Alpha Male founder Urijah Faber revealed that Northcutt has been training with them, and expects it to be a full-time arrangement, moving forward.
“He’s out here learning the good stuff. He and I just got done doing a little private (session),” Faber said (via MMA Fighting).
“Right now, he works out with one of my very good buddies out of Paradigm in Texas, who I actually coached in college at UC Davis. And so, this is a week out (for him) right now.”
“He’s got a full camp, so I’m not sure how much he’s going to be out here for his camp, but it’s probably going to be a more permanent thing for him moving forward,” Faber said. “But as of right now, he’s kind of splitting time, and man, what a fast learner and what a positive guy. He’s fun to be around.”
UFC 214, which will be headlined by the grudge rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones, will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
