Report: Dana White is buying up Las Vegas mansions and demolishing them

Amid planning blockbuster cards, transitioning new owners from the old and dealing with athlete concerns about pay and overall treatment, UFC president Dana White is buying up luxury properties in exclusive Las Vegas suburbs. As a matter of fact, in less than a year, White has scooped up three more mansions in the wealthy Tournament Hills enclave, bringing his house total in that affluent area to four within the last decade.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports all the homes are within a stone’s throw of each other off Pine Island Court and very close to the first home, purchased from former UFC co-owner Frank Fertitta for the bargain price of $1.95M in 2006 and clocking in at 6,000 square feet. White’s three new acquisitions are as follows:

  1. October, 2016: 7,700 square feet: $1.8M
  2. January, 2017: 5,500 square feet: $2.4M
  3. March, 2017: 4,700 square feet: $2M

Here’s where it gets interesting; city records show that demolition permits have been issued for the four homes and one has already reportedly been torn down just last month according to a real estate agent that has listings in the area. The exact purpose and scope of the demolition and possible future construction is unclear. Kennedy Compound, anyone?

White was a minority owner in the UFC and turned quite a profit when it sold to talent magnates WME-IMG last year for a record-breaking $4.2 billion and is once again in an owner’s seat, having negotiated a stake in the company for himself when it sold just 11 months ago. That’s quite a long way from the $2 million the Fertittas bought the promotion for in 2001.
