UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Teixeira live results, discussion, play by play

Join us today on Bloody Elbow for live results, discussion, round scoring and play-by-play as UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Teixeira goes down in Stockholm, Sweden.

The headliner comes in the light heavyweight division, with two former title challengers trying to get back into contention when Alexander Gustafsson fights in front of a hometown crowd against Glover Teixeira.

The show is in Europe, so things kick off early. Really early. Live results and play-by-play will commence with the Fight Pass broadcast at 10am ET/7am PT. They will move to FS1 at 11am for four prelims fights, and stay there for the main card’s six fights starting at 1pm ET. The full lineup and schedule follows. Alexander Gustafsson vs. Glover Teixeira

Round 1 – Gustafsson throws a spinning kick right away. Nice leg kick. Teixeira gets a body lock and throws the Swedish fighter to the ground, but he’s up right away. Nice uppercut from Glover. Step-in knee from Gus. Lots of movement from Gustafsson. Uppercut from Gustafsson but Teixeira is complaining of an eyepoke. He’s right, Gus pushed off the other hand and got him. Referee Marc Goddard is rushing Glover for some reason, but he says he’s good to go. A right wobbles Glover’s mouthpiece. Beautiful uppercut from Gus. Teixeira is chasing him across the cage. Gustafsson cracks him again. Spinning attack from Gus. Nice combo. 10-9 Gustafsson.

Round 2 – Gustafsson landed an elbow that briefly stunned Teixeira. Glover looked for a single but couldn’t get a hold of the leg. Gus is cut over the eye. Nice left from Gustafsson and he tries to exit but eats a shot he didn’t see coming. Gustafsson with an uppercut! He presses with shots and drops Teixeira! He’s back up and resets. His nose is bloodied up though, and he’s clearly having problems with his vision. Front kick from Gus. Teixeira fires back. Jabs from the Brazilian. Nice combo behind the jab from Gustafsson. Front kicks. 10-9 Gustafsson.

Round 3 – Nice jab from Gustafsson but he eats a counter. Gustafsson drops Teixeira! He’s all over him on top! Elbows! Teixeira is trying to lock himdown but these are some nasty elbows. Another! Wow! Teixeira rolls for an armbar and gets up! Great resiliency! He tried to hold Gustafsson against the fence but got taken down. He’s back up. Knee from Tex. They trade jabs. Gustafsson loading up with the lead uppercut and it lands the third time he tries it. Jumping knee/kick from Gus. Uppercut again! Body kick from Teixeira. Front kick to the thigh from Gustafsson. Teixeira with a right hook. Fun fight. 10-9 Gustafsson.

Round 4 – Body kick from Gustafsson. Right hook to the body too. Glover with a monster leg kick of his own. Lead right hook from Gustafsson. Short uppercut and right hook from Gus in close. Teixeira looking for a takedown but Gustafsson ended up with a body lock against the fence. Nice combo on the break from Gustafsson. Teixeira pumping the right jab. Gus doesn’t let Teixeira get inside and resets. Huge uppercut from Gustafsson! He’s changing stances and landing body kicks. Again with the lead uppercut! Glover’s chin is keeping him in the fight. Another! 10-9 Gustafsson.

Round 5 – Glover with a body kick. Huge combo from Teixeira! Three uppercuts in a row and a right hook from Gustafsson floors Teixeira and ENDS THIS FIGHT! Holy hell that was awesome!

Misha Cirkunov vs. Volkan Oezdemir

Round 1 – Cirkunov with a body kick. Nice left took. Cirkunov presses forward but eats a big shot and drops face down! Right behind the ear! Oezdemir jumped him and threw some shots but Cirkunov was already out. It was such a short punch, didn’t look that damaging. Crazy.

Ben Saunders vs. Peter Sobotta

Round 1 – Saunders with a leg kick, but gets dropped by a left hook in seconds! He’s back up and looks clear-headed though. Nice jab from Sobotta. Straight right and body kick from Saunders. Another right from Sobotta. Pressing left hook from Sobotta. Surprisingly, he’s getting the best of Saunders on the feet. They trade jabs. Sobotta floors him again! He jumps into guard and works ground and pound, but Saunders locks him down. Saunders is cut above the eye. 10-9 Sobotta.

Round 2 – Saunders reaching with the jab early. Nice straight right from Saunders. Sobotta stuns him and Saunders is staggering! He doesn’t go down but he’s definitely on chicken legs. Sobotta stops swarming and goes back to range. A left drops him again! Saunders pops up but goes down again from a big knee and the referee has seen enough. Saunders isn’t happy but this fight is over.

Abdul Razak Alhassan vs. Omari Akhmedov

Round 1 – They touch up. Akhmedov with a front kick. Alhassan is on his back, but not for long. Takedown again from Akhmedov. Again he’s up rather quickly. Nice right from Alhassan. Leg kicks and a body kick from Alhassan. He’s walking him down but eating jabs. They both land big shots. And again. 10-9 Akhmedov.

Round 2 – Hard body kick from Alhassan. Akhmedov cracks him back.Alhassan backs his opponent to the cage and lands two hard right hooks. Akhmedov with a takedown. He couldn’t hold him down though. Hard winging right hook from Alhassan. Another takedown from Akhmedov. Alhassan is up again but takes some damage with hisback to the cage. Right hook from Alhassan. He’s walking Akhmedov down but gets taken down again. Akhmedov traps an arm and lands a few elbows. Body shots. 10-9 Akhmedov.

Round 3 – Outside leg kick from Akhmedov. They trade shots in a short flurry. Alhassan isn’t throwing as much. Big double leg takedown, but Alhassan uses the momentum and throws Akhmedov off. Nice right hook from Alhassan. Another. He initially stuffs a shot, but Akhmedov perseveres and gets the single leg takedown. Straight to mount. Akhmedov landing a few shots but not really taking advantage of the dominant position. Alhassan escapes to his feet with one minute to go. Akhmedov presses him against the fence. That’s it. 10-9 and 30-27 Akhmedov.

Omari Akhmedov defeated Abdul Alhassan by split decision (30-27, 28-29, 30-27)

That’s a terrible scorecard for Alhassan.

Oliver Enkamp vs. Nordine Taleb

Round 1 – Taleb takes the center and lands an outside leg kick. Spinning back kick to the belly from Enkamp. Enkamp looks for a takedown but settles for an awkward high kick. Another outside leg kick from Taleb. Enkamp in on another takedown attempt and manages to tie Taleb up against the cage. He eventually gets it, but it’s not there long. Taleb slip on a wild punch from Enkamp. Nice right hook from Taleb. Enkamp with the thai clinch but gets taken down. He’s looking for something from the bottom. 10-9 Enkamp.

Round 2 – Hard shot from Taleb as Enkamp presses forward early. Enkamp with a head kick. Body shots from Taleb. Enkamp spins and misses. Leg kick. Taleb with two short left hooks. Enkamp looked for a takedown but he gets stuffed. Again. Enkamp tries another method, but Taleb rolls through and ends up on top. Enkamp up to his knees, but Taleb puts him on his back again. 10-9 Taleb.

Round 3 – Nice high kick from Enkamp. Takedown attempt stopped by Taleb. Taleb with a nice shot to the body. Taleb catches a kick and kicks Enkamp’s other leg. Taleb lands a left hook and scores a takedown. Enkamp looks for a guillotine but they’re too close to the cage. Taleb works from the top. Not a lot of action but enough to avoid getting stood up. 10-9 and 29-28 Taleb on my card.

Nordine Taleb defeated Oliver Enkamp (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Jack Hermansson vs. Alex Nicholson

Round 1 – Hermansson circling to start. He shoots in and gets a takedown. Around to side control immediately. Hermansson drops a few shots. He’s got the back and a body triangle. He opens up with his hands and the referee steps in rather quickly. Nicholson was stuck, but didn’t seem to be in a lot of danger. Nonetheless, the local fighter gets the W.

Pedro Munhoz vs. Damian Stasiak

Round 1 – Inside leg kick from Stasiak. Outside leg kick from Munhoz. Body kick too. Stasiak scoops a single but Munhoz falls back with a guillotine. It looks deep but Stasiak escapes and they return to the feet. Munhoz with a few shots on the feet. Stasiak is firing back and it’s slow going. 10-9 Munhoz I guess.

Round 2 – Stasiak with a stiff jab. Munhoz responding with single shots. Whiffs on a head kick. Two body kicks from Munhoz. Stasiak scoops a single again and is forced to defend a guillotine again. Munhoz spins around to his back but Stasiak spins out. Stasiak throws a spinning back fist. Munhoz is chewing up the lead leg with kick. Stasiak with another jab. 10-9 Munhoz.

Round 3 – Munhoz with a leg kick and he stuffs a shot. Munhoz spins again. Munhoz with a takedown. It doesn’t stay there long though. Right hook to the head and body from Munhoz. Low kick. Stasiak throwing single shots now. Munhoz gets a hold of him, takes his back, and drags his opponent to the floor. Stasiak gets up but is quickly slammed to the floor. Getting ragdolled now. They get back up and trade shots to the horn. 10-9 and 30-27 Munhoz.

Chris Camozzi vs. Trevor Smith

Round 1 – Smith with an inside leg kick. He’s looking for a takedown and gets it. Smith stacks him up against the cage but Camozzi looks for an omoplata. Smith spins out, takes the back, and lands a few punches. Camozzi is back to his feet but Smith is still controlling him against the cage. They trade hard knees. Smith takes Camozzi down again. Smith backs out of guard and drops a big shot. 10-9 Smith.

Round 2 – Nice lead right from Smith and he looks for a takedown. He trips Camozzi, then jumps on him to assert position. The crowd isn’t happy. He’s dropping shots from half guard and stacking him up effectively against the fence. Camozzi rolls over and Smith takes the back. That didn’t last long and Camozzi retains half guard. But he’s not doing anything to try to get up. Smith with a couple more shots. 10-9 Smith.

Round 3 – Smith has a takedown attempt stuffed. He is persistent though and almost gets one on the second attempt. Camozzi stays upright but gets tied against the fence. Yet another attempt works and he’s on his back. Smith is looking to advance position and finally gets to mount with 50 seconds to go. Camozzi retains full guard but he’s flat on his back and not offering up much at all. I have it 10-9 and 30-27 Smith.

Trevor Smith defeats Chris Camozzi by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26, 30-26)

Reza Madadi vs. Joaquim Silva

Round 1: Not much to report in the first minute or so. Takedown by Madadi and then Silva scrambles to his feet. Madadi with a jab but Silva returns fire. There’s another takedown by Reza. Silva with a couple of elbows off of his back, with his guard closed and Madadi not really doing much of anything. Silva looks for a triangle but Madadi is wise to it and easily stops it. Silva throws his legs up again but Madadi gets to half-guard and lands punch before the round ends. 10-9 Madadi.

Round 2: Head kick by Silva catches Madadi off balance and he fell as if he was caught flush, but he wasn’t. Hard right hand by Madadi and then a straight left. Great timing by Madadi again but Silva gets back to his feet quickly enough to avoid being put on his back. Brutal right by Madadi on the break. Head kick by Silva catches Madadi and Reza just eats it like it was nothing! Body shots by Silva may have Madadi hurt there. Spinning elbow by Madadi! This fight has gotten crazy. Madadi misses on the spin but instantly throws a right to follow it up. Right hand to the body by Silva. Body kick by the Brazilian and a left hook to the body. He’s possibly wearing Madadi down. Combination of punches from Silva against the fence. More back-and-forth action. with both men getting their licks in. Labored jumping knee by Silva ends the round. 19-19 but it’s a tight call.

Round 3: Silva comes out swinging and teeing off on Madadi, whose chin is just granite. Crucial takedown by Madadi. Silva has control of the head and then jumps down for the guillotine but loses it. The Brazilian is back to his feet but he eats a knee and risks getting taken down again, and Madadi slams him down. Madadi in danger of losing top position and Silva uses the scramble to stand back up. Looks like Madadi may have gotten poked in the eye, but the fight continues after a brief stoppage. Right hand drops Madadi! He covers up but Silva jumps onto the back of Madadi. He might be too high on the back and he is. Madadi escapes and he clasps his hands and goes for a takedown, but Silva scrambles and puts Madadi on themat. Big shots by Silva. Standing guillotine by Silva but it’s an ill-advised move. Madadi with a takedown attempt that leaves him on the bottom again. Silva rains down the punches and that’s the end of the fight. Great stuff after a slow first round. 29-28 Silva. Could go Madadi’s way though depending on how round 2 was scored.

Nico Musoke vs. Bojan Velickovic

Round 1: Musoke pushes forward with lefts and rights. Just misses with a head kick. Velickovic with a chopping leg kick. Musoke initiates the clinch, backs him up to the fence, and then takes him down. Not much happening here. Musoke with a couple of right hands and then a knee as Velickovic gets back to his feet. Stiff straight left by Velickovic. Head kicks by both men are blocked. Musoke grabs for a leg and Velickovic stuffs the takedown. Right hand lands for the Swede, then a body kick. Velickovic drops for a takedown but it’s denied. 10-9 Musoke.

Round 2: Velickovic with a left down the middle. Left hook connects for Musoke. Leg kick by Velickovic and then another one is checked. Musoke cracks him with two punches. Fancy footsweep by Velickovic. Right hook by Velickovic. Quality jab by Musoke. Velickovic with a great entry into a takedown. Musoke is back to his feet but he takes a couple of punches against the fence. Nico catches a kick and tags his opponent with a right hand, then goes for a takedown. Knee to the body and an elbow to the head by Musoke to end the round. 19-19.

Round 3: Very little separating these two in the fight. Musoke pressuring and catching Velickovic but then Velickovic drops for a guillotine. Nico escapes and scrambles to his feet, where he has Bojan against the fence. They separate and Musoke lands a right in the center of the Octagon. Hard body kick by Musoke. Velickovic with a bad shot which Musoke defends. He goes for a trip on Musoke but can’t get him down. Long right hand by Musoke. Stinging straight left by Velickovic. Jab comes in from Musoke as we approach the final minute. Velickovic may have faked a takedown and then as he reset he got hit with a right. Musoke gets clipped with a right to the temple and he’s all over the place! His legs are gone! Velickovic pounces on him and the fight is over! Velickovic surely just snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

Preliminary Card (Fight Pass, 10 AM ET)

Jessin Ayari vs. Darren Till

Round 1: Left hand by Till looks to have hurt Ayari. He’s backing up and Till cracks him again and again. Ayari in early trouble. Head kick and a straight left by Till. Knee to the body in the clinch by Till. Takedown by Till and Ayari is back up fairly quickly. Footsweep by Till and in the scramble he catches Ayari with another left. Ayari with a looping right. Combination by Ayari with a landed left hook but a missed high kick. 10-9 Till.

Round 2: Hard left hook by Ayari but Till catches him with his own left and then another. Ayari’s legs are wobbly again. Till follows him to the ground and Ayari threatens with a triangle but Till batters him with a left again. Armbar attempt by Ayari but Till pulls out of it. Ayari pushes off with his legs and then lands a good knee. Ayari may have been rocked again on a short left on the inside. Ayari with a takedown but Till is back up. Right inside elbow by Ayari. Down goes Ayari on a left hand again. He grabs a hold of Till’s leg but eats hard elbows for his troubles. He’s taken four in a row and now getting battered with more ground-and-pound. 20-17 Till.

Round 3: Knee to the body by Ayari and then he gets clipped again with a punch. Spinning backfist just misses for Till. Action has slowed as they’re tied up in the clinch. Till ducks under an Ayari punch and just shoves him to the cage. Decent left hook by Ayari as Till has slowed a little bit. Big knee and a left by Till. Ayari has been inadvertently poked in the eye. Head kick by Till on the restart. Till pretty much has this fight won. Counter left one more time by Till, who takes a bow as the fight ends. 30-26 Till.

Official result: Darren Till def. Jessin Ayari by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-27)

Marcin Held vs. Damir Hadzovic

Round 1: Hadzovic with a hard knee to the body. Held with a good right hand. Front kick by Hadzovic momentarily stuns Held. Uppercuts on the inside by Held land on Hadzovic. Held has a single leg and he has Hadzovic down. Held in half-guard and now passes to side control. He goes back into half-guard. Hadzovic is able to get it to full guard. Elbows from Held before he passes to a high half-guard, but Hadzovic regains guard. Held dives for a leg but Hadzovic stops it, only for Held to get back on top. Held now has Hadzovic’s back with both hooks in but time expires and he can’t get a choke in. 10-9 Held.

Round 2: Held with a wheel kick right away! And he instantly gets the takedown after that. With Hadzovic trying to get back to his feet, Held kicks out a leg and now has control of his back. Hadzovic is standing but with Held draped all over his back. Standing rear-naked choke by Held but he loses position and Hadzovic is free. Elbow on the inside by Hadzovic. Head kick by Hadzovic is caught and Held easily puts him down and into half-guard again. Held passes to side control and he’s going for the d’arce choke! It’s tight but he’s able to get out of it. Nicely done by Hadzovic. Held is in the north-south position and back to side mount. The Polish fighter rains down a few punches from the Bosnian’s guard. Held advanced to mount and then gives up the back. That’s two roundsi n the books. 20-18 Held

Round 3: Right hand by Held. He shoots for a takedown and gets knocked out cold by a knee and then a punch while he was down! What a comeback by Hadzovic! Replays show Held was actually going for the Imanari roll, and it backfired.
