After a three-year tug-o-war with the UFC, Georges St-Pierre has finally signed a new contract in mid-February. For his return fight, he agreed to move up in weight and take a fight against middleweight champion Michael Bisping, with the 185-pound title on the line.
A good number of fans and fighters alike have criticized the idea, mainly because many believe that Yoel Romero should be next in line for a shot at Bisping. Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, meanwhile, has a different reason for hating on the match-up.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, “The Chosen One” says St-Pierre is also in his sights down the line. Woodley also put the former long-time champion on blast for deciding to fight at middleweight upon returning.
“He got away right before I got the chance to get my hands on him,” Woodley said. “And now you come back, and you don’t come back to your own weight class, man? I can’t really respect that.”
Last week, Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh described Woodley as “just another wrestler with an overhand right”, and teased about a possible match-up between the two.
