Daniel Cormier had a relatively easy night on April 8 at UFC 212, defeating Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson via second-round submission to retain the light heavyweight title for the second time of his career.

It was during Friday’s weigh-ins that ‘DC’ came under scrutiny, and the former Olympian is still catching flack for his controversial weight cut.

Cormier, the former Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix champion, failed to make weight on his first attempt, hitting the scales at 206.2 pounds. The American Kickboxing Academy standout returned to the scales just two minutes later and hit the 205-pound target, with fans alleging that Cormier held onto the towel to shift his weight and manipulate the scales.

UFC light heavyweight rival Jon Jones mocked Cormier on Instagram, posting that he is now the official 206.2 pound champion of the world.

Jones, who beat Cormier in a championship bout at UFC 182, was ringside for UFC 210 and watched his nemesis defend the belt. ‘Bones’ is currently serving a one-year suspension for a failed drug last year — retroactive July 6, 2016 — and is eligible to return to the Octagon after July 6, 2017. It’s expected that the former champ will return against Cormier or face the top-ranked Jimi Manuwa for the interim title.
