Ian Entwistle has announced his retirement.
The UFC bantamweight was scheduled to face rising prospect Brett Johns on the UFC Fight Night 107 preliminary card, but just hours before the event started, Entwistle was pulled from the card after making a trip to the hospital on the advice of doctors. Entwistle missed weight Friday by four pounds.
Entwistle posted a brief statement on his Facebook page Saturday afternoon, stating that because of consistent medical issues caused by cutting weight, he is stepping away from the sport.

“Won’t cut weight again given myself some health problems,” Entwistle wrote. “What I need to fix before I can move on with my life.
“Believe me we don’t understand the risks this is my retirement.”
Entwistle is 1-2 in the UFC. Most recently, he was finished by Alejandro Perez at UFC Fight Night 86 in April 2016. Prior to that, the Englishman stopped newcomer Anthony Birchak via his signature heel hook in the first round. “Enty” made his debut in June 2014 and lost to Dan Hooker.
Saturday wasn’t the first time one of Entwistle’s fights was scrapped 24 hours or less from the card. The submission artist was supposed to fight Rob Font at UFC 204 in October, but fell ill (due to weight complications) and was pulled from the event.
Entwistle retires with a professional record of 9-3.
