A lightweight matchup between ranked 155-pound fighter Will Brooks and longtime featherweight contender Charles Oliveira is on tap for UFC 210, the UFC announced on the UFC 208 broadcast on Saturday.
Brooks is 1-1 inside the Octagon since leaving Bellator MMA, where he was the lightweight champion. He made his debut at The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale last July and picked up a unanimous decision win over Ross Pearson. In his last outing, he was stopped in the third round by Alex Oliveira, who was badly overweight ahead of that bout and has since returned to welterweight.
Oliveira is currently riding a two-fight losing streak. “Do Bronx” is mostly known for his grappling abilities, but he’s coming off two straight submission losses to Ricardo Lamas and ex-UFC champ Anthony Pettis. At featherweight, the Brazilian missed weight fairly frequently, and is now returning to the 155-pound division. Oliveira’s last win was a tap-out win over Myles Jury in December 2015.
It isn’t clear where Brooks vs. Oliveira will be placed on the card.
UFC 210 takes place live from KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y., on April 8. In the main event of the evening, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier fights No. 1 contender Anthony Johnson for the second time.
