After it took over a year to return from her first loss in MMA, a lot of people were speculating whether Ronda Rousey would retire after an even quicker defeat against Amanda Nunes. The former UFC champ herself has been silent about her future, but now Dana White has stated that he believes Rousey would probably hang up the gloves.
“In the conversation I had with her, if I had to say right here right now – again I don’t like saying right here right now because it’s up to her – but I would’t say she fights again,” White said during an appearance at the UFC Unfiltered podcast (transcribed by MMA Junkie). “I think she’s probably done.
“She’s going to ride off into the sunset and start living her life outside of fighting,” he said.
“She’s so competitive that, her career and record meant everything to her. And then once she lost, she started to say to herself, ‘What the (expletive) am I doing? This is my whole life. This is it? I want to experience and start doing other things.’ And I think that’s what she started to do, and she’s got a lot of money. She’s never going to need money again.”
Rousey has maintained a pretty low profile after her UFC 207 loss to Nunes. She was recently seen handing out supplies and joining the Standing Rock protesters, opposing Donald Trump’s recent push for the controversial Dakota and Keystone XL pipelines.
