Gritty featherweight Henry Corrales is headed to Bellator 170 this Saturday in search of his first promotional win, as he takes on Cody Bollinger. Corrales dove head first into the Bellator promotion as he dropped his debut to the now champion Daniel Straus. In his next bout, Corrales lost his front teeth on the way to a razor-thin split decision loss to Emmanuel Sanchez at Bellator 143. Did Henry Corrales go looking for an easier fight after taking 2 Bellator L’s? Of course not.
Corrales opted to step in on short notice to face Bellator’s former featherweight champion Patricio Freire, and moved to 0-3 within the organization. Before heading in to battle this Saturday, Henry Corrales caught up with Bloody Elbow to discuss switching his camp to the MMA Lab, what type of fight to anticipate, and calls for a rematch with the man responsible for his false front teeth, Emmanuel Sanchez.
Having gone 0-3 in Bellator, is Cody Bollinger the right opponent to get on track?
“I wasn’t worried about the opponent, you know, I was worried about preparing and having a full camp type of deal, and making all of the necessary sacrifices and changes. I did that. I relocated to the MMA Lab in Arizona with Ben Henderson and coach John Crouch, Eddie Cha. So, just finding ways to keep stepping my game up.”
Has training at the MMA Lab added any new wrinkles to your game?
“I’m always working on everything. As a fighter, Mixed Martial Arts you’re always preparing for everything. There’s one thing you can always expect from me, and that’s just a real fight. I’ll get in there and I’ll throw with anybody. I’ll grapple with anybody. I’m ready to go. There’s no stalling; there’s no point fighting in my blood. I’m just ready to go.”
Prediction for your match with Cody Bollinger?
“I’m getting the victory. That’s all I know. I don’t know exactly how yet, it depends on how I break my opponent.”
What will be next for Henry Corrales?
“I would like a rematch, and I think the fans would like it too, with Emmanuel Sanchez over here. Our first fight was pretty fun. Like you said, it was close, so it’d be good to go in there and collect another paycheck with him.”
In your first fight with Sanchez, you stated that he had knocked out your front teeth. Can we see?
