Khabib Nurmagomedov isn’t one to mince words.
The undefeated Dagestani fighter made his intentions clear while beating up Michael Johnson at UFC 205.
Nurmagomedov, 28, made mince meat of Johnson on the preliminary card and even told his opponent to ‘give up’ towards the end the bout. ‘The Eagle’ also spoke to UFC president Dana White in between rounds and demanded a fight with newly-crowned lightweight champion, Conor McGregor.
Before finishing ‘The Menace’ with a kimura in the third round, Nurmagomedov promised White that he would ‘smash’ his ‘boy’ McGregor.
“I talk about don’t give me this bulls*it contract no more and give me [McGregor], I’m going to fight your boy,” Nurmagomedov told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, per MMA Fighting’s Dave Doyle. “I talk with him what I think. But it’s okay. I’ll talk with you, with somebody, where you think it’s okay. It’s not trash talking.”
Nurmagomedov is one of the most feared lightweights in the world, and for good reason. The Sambo world champion has bulldozed through most of his opponents with ease and amassed a perfect record of 24-0.
He is scheduled to face the No. 2 ranked Tony Ferguson, who is on a nine-fight win streak of his own, at the upcoming UFC 209 pay-per-view on March 4 at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena. The winner is likely to challenge ‘The Notorious’ for the official 155 lbs title in the fall.
