The UFC is headed to Phoenix, Arizona this Sunday, not Saturday, for UFC Fight Night: Rodriguez vs. Penn. Yair Rodriguez (-450) opened up as a heavy favorite over the former UFC welterweight and lightweight champion B.J. Penn (+345), without much of any movement in terms of moneylines. Ben Saunders vs. Court McGee and Joe Lauzon vs. Marcin Held are both pick‘em bouts with associated moneylines of -110 respectively.

The most unpredictable division will get some shine as there will be 3 heavyweight fights on display, plus one light heavyweight tilt involving a competitor leaving the 265 realm to dabble in the 205 division. It is recommended to proceed with caution when it comes to betting on the big boys and when seeking action on the pick’em fights.

Suggestions:

Yair Rodriguez vs. B.J. Penn: Featherweight

The 16-10-2 B.J. Penn (+345) is currently on a 3-fight skid against a somewhat untested young gun on a 7-fight hot streak. It should be noted that Penn’s last 5 losses came to Frankie Edgar x3, Nick Diaz, and Rory MacDonald, with the Edgar bout back in July of 2014 being the most recent. Granted, Rodriguez has fought 5 times since Penn last competed, but he has not faced nowhere near the same caliber of opponent in his young 9-1 career. B.J. Penn @ +345 is worth considering as a chance bet.
