Things are really heating up between UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt and ex-champ T.J. Dillashaw.
Both men used to train together at Urijah Faber’s Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, California, but things turned sour when Dillashaw parted ways with the team in 2015.
‘No Love’, who battered Dominick Cruz to capture the 135 lbs belt at UFC 207, used to have Dillashaw’s back. When MMA megastar Conor McGregor referred to his ex-teammate as a ‘snake in the grass’ on The Ultimate Fighter 22, Garbrandt almost came to blows with the Irishman.
As of right now, though, Garbrandt is furious with Dillashaw and says ‘The Notorious’ was right to call him a snake.
The newly-minted champion fired back at Dillashaw on Twitter after the Elevation Fight Team member said that he was ducking him.
Haha no this fool is getting it!! little snake in the grass @TheNotoriousMMA was right about you, #Sellout https://t.co/Ei7MsjOdB3

Wasn’t for saying that, it was challenging us to fight! I’m always down to scrap when invited to one! #LetsBeRealhere https://t.co/z4Cv9nmaER

He said this in the media because we all know the truth in what really went down! He sold out and lied to everyone! #RealTalk https://t.co/PynhhqcFZ9

Dillashaw, who lost the title to ‘The Dominator’ last year, rebounded with two consecutive wins over top ranked contenders Raphael Assuncao and John Lineker. The 30-year-old was frustrated that Garbrandt got the title shot before him and with just five fights in the UFC.
Since winning the belt last month, Garbrandt has called for super fights with Jose Aldo and McGregor. But, with every passing day, it’s looking more and more likely that he will face former teammate Dillashaw in his first title defense.
