All eyes were on the UFC 207 headliners, as Amanda Nunes and Ronda Rousey contested for Nunes’ women’s bantamweight title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was Rousey’s first fight since losing to Holly Holm in the UFC 193 main event, while Nunes was making her first defense of a title that Rousey had held for so long.
Nunes tagged Rousey with several big shots in the first 20 seconds. Combination punching backed Ronda up, and she was in trouble early. A left hook and a straight right rocked Rousey. She was on wobbly legs and out on her feet. A massive set of power shots had Rousey completely gone against the fence and unaware of her surrounding. Herb Dean had no choice but to call it off, even though Rousey was never knocked down. There was no debating the stoppage.
Official result: Amanda Nunes def. Ronda Rousey via KO (punches) at :48 of round 1 to remain the UFC women’s bantamweight champion
Rousey immediately left the cage following the official announcement of the fight, so there was no post-fight interview between her and Joe Rogan.
