Floyd Mayweather Sr. on McGregor’s boxing skills: ‘I don’t think his fundamentals are bad’

With Floyd Mayweather’s recent continuous tirades towards Conor McGregor, the much talked about boxing match between the two men have has gotten more traction. Recently, “Money May’s” father Floyd Sr. also joined in on the conversation.

Initially, the elder Mayweather echoed everyone else’s general statements. Speaking to Marcos Villegas of Fight Hub TV, Floyd Sr. spoke about how he thought the match would go down.

“Floyd’s (going to) tear him up, man. Even though Floyd is not a big puncher, Floyd can hit him with jabs and stuff all night, man, and cut him up.”

At the time he uttered these statements, Floyd Sr. had not yet seen the main event fight between McGregor and Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. But after doing so, he then made his judgments about the Irishman’s boxing skills, based from what he had seen from a short clip that was shown to him.

“I don’t think his fundamentals are bad,” Floyd Sr. said. “But you got to understand, his fundamentals ain’t up there with the man, either. They got levels.”

“My son’s gonna cut his beard for him.”
