Join us today on Bloody Elbow for live results, discussion, round scoring and play-by-play for UFC on FOX 22, which goes down in the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA.

The headliner will take place in the women’s strawweight division, with Paige VanZant taking on Michelle Waterson.

Live results and play-by-play will commence early, as is traditional with Fox cards, with the Fight Pass broadcast at 3:30pm ET/12:30pm PT. There will be three fights there before the card moves to Fox Sports 1 for six more preliminary bouts starting at 5pm ET/2pm PT. Finally, the four-fight main card will kick off at 8pm ET/5pm PT.

Sultan Aliev vs. Bojan Velickovic

Round 1 – Slow pace over the first minute, just a few low kicks from each man. Both are well out of range with their hands. Inside leg kick from Velickovic, and a body kick. Aliev misses with a combo. Some more kicks. The small crowd is getting restless. Aliev runs in and gets a takedown. Aliev works position, then drops a few rights. Velickovic gets up with 25 seconds to go. Aliev presses him against the cage for the duration. 10-9 Aliev.

Round 2 – Velickovic opens up with his kicking game again early. Hard body kick, and he scores with a lead straight left. Velickovic controlling the center of the cage. Aliev clinches up and trips his opponent to the mat. Aliev with a hard right. Velickovic looking for something from the bottom. Aliev takes his back with one hook in a seated position against the cage. Velickovic gets up with 1:45 to go, and drops for a guillotine attempt. Aliev pops his head out rather easily. Lots of top control. 10-9 Aliev.

Round 3 – Velickovic with some low kicks. Tried a high kick, which was blocked. Velickovic clinches up and looks for a takedown, but can’t get anything and Aliev reverses him on the cage. Velickovic escapes and opens up with his striking. Aliev went for a takedown, but Velickovic spun around and took his back. Aliev reversed right back, grinding away on the ground against the cage. Velickovic attempted an armbar but it was swatted away. Aliev landed a few rights, but generally just controlled position for the rest of the round. 10-9 and 30-27 Aliev.

Hector Sandoval vs. Fredy Serrano

Round 1 – Serrano fires off a high kick right away. Sandoval working on the outside, just avoiding Serrano’s offense. Sandoval in and scores a surprising slam takedown. He didn’t even try to control position – seems like he just wanted to make a statement. He opened up with his hands as soon as Serrano got up. Lots of pressure from Sandoval. Finally Serrano pushes him off and they work from range. Sandoval landed a right hook that hurt Serrano. Serrano clinches to buy time. Another right for Sandoval. Left  from Serrano. Serrano missing with wild kicks and winging hooks. Sandoval with a body kick. Serrano fires back with a leg kick. They clinch up and Serrano stuffs a takedown. Hard knee on the break from Serrano. They both go for flying knees at the same time. 10-9 Sandoval.

Round 2 – Sandoval with a hard counter right as Serrano throws a kick. Sandoval dropped for a guillotine but Serrano escaped. Sandoval tied him up against the cage briefly. The pace slows. Sandoval walks Serrano down and clinches up again. Serrano fails on an awkward takedown attempt. Serrano with a body kick. Sandoval rips to the body. Sandoval with a right hook to the body and left kick to the head. Serrano tripped Sandoval and just missed with an illegal knee. Hard outside leg kick from Serrrano. Sandoval changes it up, goes with the left to the body and right to the head. Very nice. 10-9 Sandoval.

Round 3 – Sandoval with an immediate takedown. He secured a front headlock and landed some knees to the body. Serrano up, and they separate after Sandoval lands a left. Serrano with an outside leg kick. Another. Loys of feinting now. Serrano scores with a right hook. Serrano misses with a spinning wheel kick, but lands a spinning backfist. Serrano catches a kick and lands a counter left. Another hard outside leg kick. Sandoval isn’t doing much this round. As I say that, he lands a counter right. Low kick and body kick for Serrano. Just misses with a head kick. They start taunting a bit. Right hook for Serrano. 10-9 Serrano, but 29-28 Sandoval.

Hector Sandoval defeated Fredy Serrano by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

Takeya Mizugaki vs. Eddie Wineland

Round 1 – Mizugaki with a leg kick. Wineland feinting a lot. Wineland with a straight left. Mizugaki with a jab, and a counter combo. Mizugaki looks sharp on the feet early. Nice lead right hook from Mizugaki. Wineland with a jab. Mizugaki back to the lead right, but can’t land with the rest of the combo. Wineland with a nice left. A straight right from Wineland drops Mizugaki! He’s up, but gets dropped again immediately with the right! Wineland jumps on him and it’s over.

Irene Aldana vs. Leslie Smith

Round 1 – Stiff jab from Aldana. They trade jabs. Aldana using the reach well early. Smith with a light inside leg kick. Smith bringing pressure and scores with rights twice in an extended combination. Smith with a nice counter. Smith had a head kick caught. Aldana with a straight right. Smith with a big straight right that drops Aldana! She jumps on her with punches, but Aldana covers up and gets to her feet. Right hook from Aldana! Smith backs up and resets. She presses forward again with punches, and has Aldana circling away. Head kick. Front kick. Spinning backfist from Aldana. Smith throws a spinning elbow in response. Smith with more pressure. Aldana with a lwo kick. Aldana with a right and two left jabs, but Smith with a counter right. They trade shots again. Body kick and jab from Smith. Hard inside leg kick from Aldana. They brawl in the pocket and Smith wobbles her again. Good round. 10-9 Smith.

Round 2 – Smith with a combo and a leg kick to start. They trade kicks. Aldana with a straight right. They’re continuing to trade in the pocket. Spinning elbow from Aldana. Smith clinches up and bullies Aldana a bit. They trade body kicks. Smith clinches up and scores with an uppercut. Smith backs her up and landed about six punches in a row. Aldana responds with a stinging straight right though, forcing Smith to back off for a few seconds. Aldana wakes up and moves forward with a huge combo. Smith definitely felt that. Now Smith gets in her face with a five-punch combo punctuated by a right hook. Smith with two body kicks and a left hook. 10-9 Smith.

Round 3 – Smith with a jab and a long straight right that connects. Combination from Smith makes Aldana circle out. Smith with a spinning back kick. Counter right hook for Smith, and she works the body. Smith with pressure against the cage. Aldana fires back, but Smith got the best of it. Both land left hooks at the same time. Aldana with an uppercut. Smith with an elbow over the top. Aldana with two rights in response. Head kick and winging right from Smith. Another right hook. Aldana with a late takedown. 10-9 and 30-27 Smith.

Leslie Smith defeated Irene Aldana by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

Josh Emmett vs. Scott Holtzman

Round 1 – Holtzman presses forward right away with a right. Nice combo. Emmett scoops a single and presses his opponent against the cage. He can’t get a takedown though, and they trade elbows in the clinch. They separate quickly. Nice counter right from Holtzman. Emmett gets kicked in the junk. Cornuts Cam agrees. Quick restart though. Emmett with an eyepoke on the restart. Maybe it was a receipt? Quick restart again. Emmett scoops a leg and kicks out the other one, but Holtzman escapes quickly. Good takedown defense from Holtzman. They clinch again. Holtzman with an overhand right. Emmett scoops Holtzman up and slams him to the mat. He’s only down for about five seconds though. Holtzman presses forward with a left hook and a knee to the body. Holtzman with his own trip takedown now. Emmett up with 20 seconds to go. Holtzman with a knee to the gut. 10-9 Holtzman.

Round 2 – Emmett misses with big, winging punches. Holtzman missed with a kick and Emmett just literally threw him to the mat. That’s a strong dude. Holtzman misses with a shot and Emmett opens up with huge shots. He landed about seven in a row before Holtzman was able to fire back. Emmett with a takedown. Emmett took the back with one hook, but Holtzman spun away. Holtzman with some clinch work against the cage now. Emmett rips to the body. Holtzman in on a double and gets the takedown. Emmett looks a little gassed out now. He gets back to his feet, but Holtzman with some body work against the cage. Jumping knee from Emmett at the horn. Close round. 10-9 Emmett.

Round 3 – Emmett with a good overhand right, and he works the body. Emmett really bringing it, he looks a bit re-energized. Emmett with a huge counter that hurts Holtzman! Two jumping knees!. Holtzman takes it though, and fires back. Emmett just dropping his hands and walking forward now. Emmett with a takedown, but Holtzman gets up quickly again. Emmett presses him against the fence, but Holtzman cracks him with some elbows. Holtzman with an elbow. Body shot from Emmett. Jumping knee to the body from Holtzman. Emmett with another takedown to a seated position against the cage. Back up. They trade shots. Emmett catches a kick and lands two rights. They grind against the cage again. Emmett with a big right at the horn. 10-9 Emmett. Second round will decide it.

Josh Emmett defeated Scott Holtzman by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Alex Morono vs. James Moontasri

Round 1 – They trade kicks. Hard outside leg kick from Morono. All kicking some far over the first minute and a half. Moontasri with a hard body kick after Morono whiffed on a spinning kick. Oblique kick from Moontasri. Morono with a sneaky counter left. Hard straight left from Moontasri rocks Morono. Moontasri catches a kick and stings his opponent with a body kick to the ribs. More kicks. Nice left from Moontasri. Inside/outside kicks for Morono. 10-9 Moontasri.

Round 2 – Moontasri with a hard body kick. Morono wades into range and lands a wild combo. Moontasri rips to the body again with a kick. That was super hard. He follows it up with a pretty straight right. Inside leg kick from Morono. Spinning back kick to the body from Moontasri. Morono with a nice counter. Morono comes forward and connects with a three-punch combo. Cracks him with a knee to the chin. Brief takedown and a right  hook from Moronto. Elbow over the top from Moontasri, and he circles out. Hard clinch elbow from Morono, and another. Right hook from Morono. Spinning back fist from Morono! Moontasri is cut over his left eye. 10-9 Morono.

Round 3 – Inside leg kick from Moontasri. They trade jabs. Morono with an outside leg kick and just misses with a step-in knee. Moontasri with a left hook. Morono presses forward and lands an elbow in a brief clinch. Double jab from Moontasri, and he goes to the body. Huge right hook rocks Moontasri! Huge shots! Moontasri just eating right hooks. He’s trying to fire back but he’s getting clubbed. Two more right hooks. Spinning back kick from Moontasti. Surprised h e was able to throw that. Moontasri back to a body kick. Morono with a delayed, slapping spinning backfist. They clinch. Knees to the body from Morono, and an elbow. Right hook again. Moontasri is gassed out. Hands down, just backing off. They trade elbows in close. Uppercut from Morono. Jab and right hook from Morono. Straight left from Morono. Moontasri’s face is a mess. Morono looks tired now too. Straight right/left hook combo from Morono. It seems like he could finish this if he turns it up, but  he doesn’t have the energy. Moontasri is still swinging. Spinning back kick from Moontasri to the body puts Morono on his butt at the horn. 10-9 and 29-28 Morono.

Bryan Barberena vs. Colby Covington

Round 1 – Barberena with a low kick. Covington with a jumping, spinning..leg kick? Sure. Covington scoops a single and gets a brief takedown. Covington with a body lock and he’s grinding away. Barberena is just getting bodied. Covington has dragged him to his knees at least five times, but Barberena pops right back up. Barberena got a little separation, but Covington immediately tripped him again. An elbow from Barberena finally gets Covington to break.with 1:20 to go. Counter right from Covington and he’s back with a body lock again. Nice overhand left from Covington. Barberena fires  back. 10-9 Covington.

Round 2 – Low kicks from Barberena. Body kick and right hook from Covington. Another combo from Covington that ends in a nice left hook. Takedown. Barberena up after 30 seconds of so. They trade combinations. Nice left from Barberena. Covington with a three-punch combo and he bullies his way into the clinch. Barberena with an elbow. Beauty combo from Covington. Another takedown. He takes the back with one hook, but Barberena back up again. Knee from Covington. Yet another takedown. That’s eight in eight minutes. Opens up with some punches. Barberena back to his feet again. Straight left from Barberena. He’s brining a bit of pressure now. Right hook from Covington. 10-9 Covington.

Round 3 – Covington ducks a punch and gets a takedown. This is the ultimate wrestler’s fight so far. Barberena up after 25 seconds or so. Some clinch work. Guess what? Another takedown. Guess what? Barberena is back up. Finally some separation halfway through the round. Nice jab from Covington, and a counter left. Covington with a bodylock against the cage. Barberena actually stopped the takedown that time. They trade in the pocket. Short left hooks from Barberena, and a low kick. Covington backing off a bit. Takedown attempt. And gets it. 11th takedown. 10-9 and 30-27 Covington.

Colby Covington defeated Bryan Barberena by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Mizuto Hirota vs. Cole Miller

Round 1 – Hirota comes forward with his hands and ooks for a takedown. He throws Miller to the mat, but can’t establish position. Triple jab from Miller. A right drops Hirota!. He pops up, but Miller looks for a choke. Hirota pops his head out and works from the top. They’re up. Miller slips on a kick, but has time to get up. They both land leg kicks. Hirota with a right cross and a leg kick. Hirota is punching Cole in the knee. Straight right from Miller. Hirota fires back with his own and throws Miller to the mat. Three big shots from the top from Hirota. Miller up and scores with a well-timed knee. Hirota with another takedown into mount. More shots from the top. miller is pressed against the cage. Hirota jumps in and out of Miller’s guard with punches. 10-9 Hirota, despite the knockdown.

Round 2 – Miller with a jab. Hirota gets inside and boxes  him up a bit. Hirota with a takedown. Miller looking for a leg lock. Couldn’t get it, but used it to get on top. Hirota lands some punches and reverses position. Hammerfist to the face. Hirota controlled position for a while, landing a few big shots with some GnP peppered in. Hirota looking for a leg lock and they stalled out. He abandons it and goes back to punching from the top. 10-9 Hirota.

Round 3 – Hirota with a leg kick and he ties Miller up against the cage. Miller spins out. Left/right combo from Hirota. He digs to the body. Miller with a knee to the body, but gets taken down. Hirota just worked steadily in half guard, landing punches here and there. Miller wasn’t showing much urgency on the bottom at all. Hirota turning up the pace slightly, but it’s still not much. Snoozer. 10-9 and 30-27 Hirota.

Mizuto Hirota defeated Cole Miller by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27)

Paul Craig vs. Luis Henrique da Silva

Round 1 – Da Silva presses Craig against the cage quickly. They exchange knees to the body. More knees. Dirty boxing. Lots of clinch work. Craig gets a takedown. Da Silva looking for a kimura. A short elbow from Craig opens a cut over Da Silva’s eye. Da Silva up, and looks to drag Craig down, but Craig ends up back on top in side control. He tried to move to mount, but settled on a guillotine attempt. After an extended time in it, Da Silva finally pops out and works from the top. Lots of blood. Da Silva backs off and the ref tells Craig to stand up. Big right hook from Da Silva. Knee to the body from Craig. Da Silva looks for another takedown but Craig ends up on top again. 10-9 Craig.

Round 2 – Head kick from Craig and he’s pressuring immediately. Da Silva looks gassed. They  clinch up for a while. Craig with some kicks upon separation. Triple jab from Craig. Da Silva with a counter right. Craig pulled guard. He looked for a triangle, then an armbar. Craig extends it and gets the tap! That was beautiful.

Alan Jouban vs. Mike Perry

Round 1 – Low kick for Perry. Perry pressing forward. Jouban with a big straight left. Hard outside leg kick from Jouban. Body kick too. Perry a little more gunshy than usual. Jouban working the body. Outside leg kick from Perry now. Jouban goes low and high with kicks. They clinch up. Jouban gets his back and takes him down. Perry up quickly with two minutes to go. Jouban with a right and a knee to the body. Perry fires back with a right and a head kick. Straight right from Perry. Body kick from Jouban. Jouban got caught trying to land a spinning backfist. 10-9 Jouban.

Round 2 – Low kicks from Jouban. Body kick. Perry’s closing the distance but not throwing. Jouban still kicking and circling. Jouban with two lefts and a head kick. He shoots in for a takedown. Perry breaks off. Counter left for Perry. Jouban ducks a head kick. Perry with a knee to the belly in the clinch. Jouban going back to the body kicks. Perry rips a right to the body. Jouban with a counter. A left from Jouban drops Perry! Perry back up and he’s backing off now. 10-9 Jouban.

Round 3 – Leg kicks from Perry. Jouban shaking his head at him. Perry walking him down. Jouban not throwing kicks this round. Two jabs from Jouban. There’s a head kick, but it’s blocked. Fast straight right from Jouban and Perry’s nose is bleeding. Body kick, and again. Three-punch combo from Jouban. Perry not throwing. Head kick and left from Jouban. Outside leg kick from Jouvan. Perry tried to catch it, but no dice. Inside leg kick. Another body kick. All Jouban. Joban scoops a single but can’t get the takedown. Jouban with two more body kicks and Perry is retreating. Missed cartwheel kick from Jouban. 10-9 and 30-27 Jouban.

Alan Jouban defeated Mike Perry by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

Urijah Faber vs. Brad Pickett

Round 1 – Pickett with a low kick. Faber with a short left as Pickett waded into the pocket. Faber with a sharp combo. Jab. Pickett knocked Faber off balance with a low kick. Faber with a running leg kick. Nice counter right from The California Kid. His speed advantage is quite noticeable. Another counter right from Faber. He grabs a single leg but Pickett got away and is looking for his own takedown against the cage. Pickett spins into top position, but he’s up. Faber immediately drops him with a left hook! Faber takes his back and looks for the choke. Hard punches. Faber punching the holy hell out of Pickett from his back. He flips over for a choke, then takes mount. 45 seconds to go. Hard elbow. On the back again, with a body triangle. Pickett bleeding. Faber can’t secure the choke. 10-8 Faber.

Round 2 – Faber tagged him with the left again. Stepped in for a knee to the body. Pickett goes back to the calf kick, which has Faber a bit off balance again. Faber with a right hook. Two left hooks now. Pickett with a knee but Faber caught it and threw him to the floor. Faber briefly takes his back, but Pickett  gets up. Hard left hook from Pickett. Right hook now. Straight right from Faber and he pushed Pickett to the ground. Looked for a guillotine but couldn’t secure anything. Faber with a bodylock. 10-9 Faber.

Round 3 – Faber looking for a takedown quickly, and he has it. Pickett pushed him off after a minute or so, and didn’t take any damage. Faber with another takedown. Faber really looking for a guillotine, but Pickett is defending well. Faber in side control. Faber lands a couple of elbows. They’re back to the feet. Pickett dropped Faber! Faber back up and smiling though, he could have been off balance. Hard uppercut from Faber. Calf kick from Pickett, and another. Faber looking for another takedown. Faber takes Pickett’s back. 10-9 and 30-26 overall.

Urijah Faber defeated Brad Pickett by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26)

Mickey Gall vs. Sage Northcutt

Round 1 – Gall jumps in with a short left. Sage with a knee to the body. Gall with a quick takedown, and is working in half guard. Gall uses the cage to push off to move to side control. Sage isn’t doing anything from the bottom. He finally explodes, but Gall secured a guillotine. Northcutt pulled the arm off and worked from the top. Sage stands up and beckons him to stand up. Gall won’t, so he dropped a hammerfist on his face, kicked him in the butt, and started talking trash! I like it! Northcutt with a left hook and a straight right. Gall with another takedown. A left gets through for Gall. Northcutt looked for an omoplata. Gall moved to mount at the horn. 10-9 Gall.

Round 2 – Northcutt with a right hook and Gall went down! He might have just been trying to bait him though. Sage tells him to get up. Northcutt with a left hook. Gall with a winging right hook behind the ear and Northcutt went down! He takes the back with a body triangle and is looking for a choke. It’s under the chin. tapping time.

Mickey Gall defeated Sage Northcutt by submission (rear naked choke), 1:40 of round 2

Paige VanZant vs. Michelle Waterson

Round 1 – Side kick from Waterson. And another. Straight right from Waterson. Side kick/short right hook is what she’s using over and over so far. Paige keeps eating the hook. VanZant looked for a thorw, but Waterson tied her up instead. Waterson hit her own throw, and took Paige’s back with a body triangle. VanZant rolls to one side to get pressure on the feet, and Waterson deftly reverses it. Waterson has an arm under the chin and is looking for the choke. VanZant fought it valiantly for a little while, but it was not to be. VanZant’s lights go out and John McCarthy stops it.
