Though it took some knocks along the way UFC 206 is finally here and at top billing is Max Holloway versus Anthony Pettis, which was supposed to be contested for the UFC’s interim featherweight title. However, after Pettis came in heavy he was declared ineligible to win the belt, meaning an interim champ will only be crowned if Holloway wins. Holloway comes into the fight with the hottest streak in MMA. Whereas Pettis, a former lightweight champ, is coming off an impressive submission victory over Charles Oliveira (after three straight losses in the 155lb division).
The remainder of the pay-per-view card features four highly intriguing bouts which, on paper, promise a lot of action. The co-main is a fantasy-fight turned reality with Donald Cerrone taking Matt Brown at 170lbs. Before those two square off the emerging Korean Superboy Doo ho Choi will be tested against tough vet Cub Swanson in the featherweight division and Tim Kennedy welcomes Kelvin Gastelum to the land of the middleweights.
The four-fight preliminary card on Fox Sports 1 pits Canada versus the world and begins at 8:00 PM ET. Headlining this portion of the event is an interesting light heavyweight match-up between Nikita Krylov and Toronto’s Misha Cirkunov. Before that there will be Montreal’s Olivier Aubin-Mercier versus Drew Dober at lightweight, Valerie Letourneau (also from Montreal) versus the debuting Viviane Pereira at women’s strawweight, and northern Ontario’s Mitch Gagnon returning to action versus Matthew Lopez at 135lbs.
As always the night kicks off with the UFC Fight Pass early prelims, which tonight begin at 6:30PM ET. UFC 206’s Fight Pass portion is especially strong this time around, featuring John Makdessi vs. Lando Vannata and Jason Saggo vs. Rustam Khabilov in the lightweight division, and Zach Makovsky vs. Dustin Ortiz at flyweight to open the show.
Here’s how you can watch all of tonight’s action.
