Today marks a big event for Glory, as the company puts on arguably the biggest fight in company history. Badr Hari vs. Rico Verhoeven is a huge fight between the old guard and new guard. Verhoeven has been dominating Glory’s Heavyweight division since winning the Glory 11 tournament 3 years ago. He’s established himself as a true heir to the Heavyweight throne, and you could make the case that he is the best kickboxer in the world today. But there will always be fans who look down on Rico and all modern Heavyweights as inferior to the prior generation. Hari, while not the same as a Peter Aerts or Ernesto Hoost, represents a link back to the glory days of K-1. The extremely popular and extremely volatile fighter has been fighting on kickboxing’s margins for 5 years now – this is his big moment to remind people of his place.

The accompany Rico vs. Badr, Glory is pulling out all the stops with a stacked event. Included are two world title defenses that will see Nieky Holzken takes on Cedric Doumbe and Sittichai Sitsongpeenong defend against Marat Grigorian. A third title fight will feature the semi-finals and finals of the ongoing Women’s GP to crown the first Women’s Super Bantamweight champion. There’s a lot to love here, with intriguing fights up and down the card.
